wow, thanks for sharing but any way to do this if you do not have a dehydrator or a steamer? You do have a lot of gadgets.

Here is a video I made today for brown rice crackers. I use organic brown rice and water-sometimes a little sea salt. You can use broth or juice in place of the water for more flavor, and add herbs or other seasonings. The shape of the container you steam it in will determine the shape of the crackers. I also do these by putting the batter in mason jars and baking them in my solar oven or steaming them, then slicing the round loaf into rounds and dehydrating them.

Thanks very much for doing the video, - I was kinda hoping we'd get to see you! But it was good to at least hear your voice :-) (Gosh, I sound like a desperate stalker, don't I?)

LOL, Niki, I was tempted to pop on camera at the end of the video, just to "introduce" myself, but I had on a shabby, way too big jogging suit, and my head tied in a bandana which I wear to keep my hair out of my face when I am concocting my science experiments-I figured I looked like a very grungy 60's throwback, lol.

You COULD do it by putting the batter in mason jars, putting them in a water bath in a pot of boiling water, and keeping the water at least half way up the jar-simmer for a couple of hours. Cool in the water, then unmold the jars, slice into rounds and dry them in a very low oven for several hours until they are crispy. This makes a much denser cracker though-more like a biscotti that would need to be dunked in something to soften it enough to eat. I have done it that way when I have been visiting family, but it is a pain and the crackers aren't as crisp and light. You can get both a food steamer and dehydrator for very little money at most thrift shops, or even free just for the asking on freecycle or craigslist. I have a lot of gadgets because I HAVE to come up with safe things to eat-packaged foods are ALWAYS contaminated with

allergens. From: ocarolyn1@... <ocarolyn1@...>Subject: Re: Video-brown rice crackers. Date: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 11:55 PM

It's a cool recipe, Bren. What I like about it is that it looks like you can eyeball it to get the consistency of the batter right--SO in keeping with your non-recipe approach. :)

Yes, I noticed that, too! Mine snap like potato chips during the winter (and they're not very attractive even under the best of circumstances). :(

LOL-too funny. I actually just cut my nails a couple of days ago-they grow ridiculously fast and I usually keep them longer than they are in the video. They are PERFECT for dropping seeds into wee holes in the garden...and a good stiff brush takes care of AFTER the garden, lol.

Well, that's one thing my nails do have going for them--they and my nails grow at a weirdly fast rate, which is why I can't get too upset if the nails break or if I'm not crazy about a haircut.

I had the pleasure of working the detail at a Crystal Gayle concert when I was a cop, and got to meet her...the hair is even more stunning than you can imagine! She is the most exquisite woman I have ever seen! I got to meet Ronnie Milsap at the same concert. One of the perks of my law enforcement days. Unless of course you include the jerks such as Charlie s and Jimmy buffet, who ended up being hauled off to the tank by yours truly. Still a huge buffet fan, but I don't think he feels the same way about me!Sent from my iPadOn Mar 9, 2011, at 4:53 PM, <kareningotham@...> wrote:

That would be me...it's a LONG story and has to do with a former boyfriend who's 23 years younger and a math genius/(now-recovering) heroin addict. This is the one who taught me to pressure cook canned milk. Trust me, you don't want to know. :((
