Guest guest
Little confused as to why you are bringing sand to the beach... but I'll go with that. I wouldn't leave home without my large cardboard cutout of a gorgeous bikini clad woman with the head cut out so that I can pop mine in it's place while walking... just a thought. Guest guest
The best gadget for the beach that I ever purchased was a corkscrew for the beach umbrella. It looks just like the one I use for my wine (which I also take on vacation) but it screws right down into the sand.....no rocking or guessing it's secure. Screws down solid and all you do is still the umbrella pole in and walla! No wind can knock it down! I love it! I also take many books and magazines and never forget the paddle ball for the kids. Keeps them occupied for hours.....along with their Ipods. loves a beach bowling game we bought many years ago. He'll play that for looooooong periods of time. He also loves to play with a cheap plastic toy we bought years ago where two people toss a wiffle ball-type of ball to each other and you catch it with almost like a basket effect kind of thing on a handle. You know what I mean? Very good for his eye hand coordination. I have all boys, who are older, so we always made sure we had enough balls and frisbees and " games " for the beach for them. As for meand my hubby........a daily six-pack cooler of Coronas next to my Rio chair by water's edge works best, with the koozies to cover up the labels! Well not everyone goes (I remember a few years we didn't) - so for the rest, tell us where you go and what you pack and plan on doing. We did a journal one year - the most hilarious trip we ever had. Another year, one of TJ's friends was in the back seat and thought I would be ok if he smoked a joint (pulled over real quick on that one and he never came with us again!). Another year the boys snuck in, well I think I'll skip that one.
Guest guest
Not exactly the same thing but some years ago in our adult Sunday School class our leader asked us each to list 10 things we would take if we were marooned on a " desert island " . I don't know how you'd know if you were going to be marooned, wouldn't you just stay home? Anyway, we all listed various things, like ropes and of course a Bible, since this was a Sunday School class. But one guy said he would take one other man and 9 women. He explained that he thought we were supposed to found a new settlement or something, and he was ready to do his bit . Kind of ended that whole project -------laughter. Guest guest
Ok, keep the beach ideas coming. We DON'T get to the beach every year..we live in the desert. BUT we are heading for CA next week. Two days in Disneyland and two days on the beach. I KNOW that we need money for Disney, but love the ideas for the beach! Guest guest
I just love champagne and strawberries for a picnic on the beach. Then of course there's lobster, salad, mmmmmmmmmmmm could go on for ages but I think they're the best things. Hey I forgot - Belgian chocolate in the cooler.
