Ben update

thanks for asking again. well benjamin is still in intensive care. they tried

to remove him from the ventilator last week but he didn't do too well since hes

so weak. he was able to breathe on his own for that day, thru the night and the

next morning he was struggling so the had to put him back on the ventilator. a

couple days later they did a trachestomy on him so they could get the tube out

of his throat. hes had some good days and some not so good days and he

continues to struggle. Tuesday night he developed a fever of 102.8 and so they

are trying to figure out what that's all about. also his trach sight where they

put in the stitches seems to be infected and inflamed so they started another

round of iv antibiotics for that.

ive had about three nurses and two doctors tell me that they honestly did not

think benjamin would survive the first few nights and are quite impressed with

his strength, determination and will to fight. i know that all the prayers hes

been receiving have really helped too.

the plan is that once benjamin is out of the woods and all the medical issues

resolved to be moved to a rehab place where they will work on his strength plus

try to wean him off the ventilator. im not comfortable with him having to go

somewhere like that but i guess i dont really have a choice. i cant bring him

home when hes this weak and on the vent. we will of course stay with him 24/7

there too.

thanks again for your prayers and kind thoughts. i do appreciate all of them..

feel free to pass on this info to anyone who may be interested because i cant

seem to find enough time to update everyone that i would like.
