Guest guest
The first time prepared herself a " meal " she got up early and made herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for breakfast. She was 5 years old (in Kindergarten). Despite being not very vocal (due to speech apraxia) she is one pretty self-reliant kid. She cooks things in the microwave in one minute incremants. If she sets the time too long her internal clock generally lets her know to stop the microwave and get the food out. I have hidden the knobs for the gas stove however(!) for the time being. One day last year, my husband came into the kitchen, complaining that there was " no food " in the house. I pointed to sitting at the table. She was eating spaghetti (microwaved Lean Cuisine), a cup of fruit, and drinking a glass of milk. Somehow SHE managed to find and prepare herself a balanced meal! - Becky mom to: (16), (14,DS), (12, ADD/CAPD)
