Guest guest
I can vouch for turmeric as an anti-inflammatory. I've always had to take 2 NSAIDS (I took Ibuprofen) and one in the morning during shows. This current show I switched to turmeric. I mix 1 tsp with some coconut oil (because I read that it is absorbed better if it is taken with an oil) and 3 drops of liquid stevia to help the taste then consume 1/4 tsp. spread out over the day. I've done this whole show feeling just like I'd taken my usual 3 Ibuprofens per day. Where Ibuprofen is bad for your liver, turmeric is actually GOOD for it! Guest guest
Hi Lea Ann, could you please elaborate a little more on this recipe?. What form was the turmeric in, and was it a commercial prep or something you made from fresh turmeric? About how much coconut oil for the 1 tsp of turmeric? About how much turmeric are you consuming for the entire day? I get a great deal of relief from the use of ibuprofen, but I can hardly use it because I get stomach issues. I'd like to try turmeric to see if it helps my arthritic knees. Thanks for any additional info; sorry for so many questions. Guest guest
Hello Arlene,I spent a couple of hours doing Google searches on all things Turmeric. turmeric anti-inflamatoryhttp://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=turmeric+++anti-inflamatory & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8turmeric vs. NSAIDShttp://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=turmeric+vs.+nsaids & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8turmeric dosehttp://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=turmeric+dose & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8and for you I Googled turmeric remedy arthritis:http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=turmeric+remedy++arthritis & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8There are so many different ways to take turmeric - you should come up with what works best for you and see how your body responds. The traditional fat that people take turmeric (aka curcumin) with is in the form of milk - you will find recipes in your own Google searches. I'm not supposed to take milk with my current diet plan, but can have the cream of milk so will be trying some cream + stevia + turmeric next. I have been taking 1 tsp. per day of the turmeric that I purchased in the organic section of my grocery store mixed with just enough coconut oil to make a paste. This was my own concoction because the first day I hadn't read the info. on its being absorbed better with fat and had been taking 1/4 tsp 4x per day of just the powder - swished down with my water. Yesterday I did the coconut oil thing and today I'm going to mix 1 tsp. of turmeric with only 4 tsps. of cream so I can take 4 - 1 tsp. doses throughout the day. Guest guest
She recommends you start with two pills and go down to one. I also do fresh ginger in the smoothie. I sort of tend to overdo things so I can't vouch for amounts. All I know, is I feel it has been a big part of my recovery and maintenance. Good luck if you try it. I also know you can purchase boswella separately, not from her but from other places. > > > > > > > http://www.lifescript > com/Health/Everyday-Care/Health_Basics/6_Natural_Ways_to_Ease_Fibromyalgia_Pa > n > aspx?utm_campaign=2011-03-05-74915 & utm_source=healthy-advantage & utm_medium=em > il & utm_content=healthy-well-wise_6%20Natural%20Ways%20to%20Ease & FromNL=1 & sc_d > te=20110305T000000 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > >
Guest guest
I rarely take mine as I hate the taste. Guest guest
Those who take fish oil should be aware that most fish oil comes from factory farmed fish, which are fed a steady diet of antibiotics, growth hormones, steroids, etc., and the fish are fed a totally unnatural diet high in grains, corn, soy and other things fish in the wild would have no access too (unnatural diet keeps the fish unhealthy, thus the extra medications in the feed) Dyes are often added to the farmed fish diet as well. ALL of that ends up in the fish and resulting fish oil. Many companies claim to use "wild CAUGHT" fish-a claim often made when fish are CAUGHT while they are spawn, but RAISED in fish farms. Fish oil is highly concentrated so there may be way more of this stuff present than you realize. Personally, I think one is better off getting their omegas from ground flax seed, which is easily ground in the VM and can be added to soooooooooo many things. Great baked into muffins and quick breads, perfect as a thickener and egg substitute, and no need for some artificial flavor to make it palatable! http://www.lifescript.com/Health/Everyday-Care/Health_Basics/6_Natural_Ways_to_Ease_Fibromyalgia_Pain.aspx?utm_campaign=2011-03-05-74915 & utm_source=healthy-advantage & utm_medium=email & utm_content=healthy-well-wise_6%20Natural%20Ways%20to%20Ease & FromNL=1 & sc_date=20110305T000000 __________ NOD32 5929 (20110305) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com __________ NOD32 5930 (20110306) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
Sure, Pam, I will give you MY opinion, but remember-it is just that, my opinion. I have no basis to be an expert here, but this is my impression. In reading through their website, there is A LOT of deceptive and inaccurate information. If they will twist the truth on one thing, they will on another. First, they claim their fish comes from the "pristine waters" of Alaska. There is no such thing as pristine water anywhere on our planet. It is all contaminated, largely by the companies who over harvest it in an effort to mass produce these products in the first place. If fishing boats are able to get there to harvest it, trust that the water is far from pristine. Second, they make a lot of claims about it being wild "caught", not wild raised. This is a common deceptive marketing practice among companies. They catch the fish as spawn, which is enough to define it as wild "caught", but they raise the spawn in intensively farmed tanks. I am NOT saying THIS company does this, just that their choice of wording leads me to believe that they do. They are also largely inaccurate and misleading in their FAQ page about addressing allergens, which again, leads me to believe that their bottom line, and NOT the health and welfare of the consumer is their only priority. Again, this is just my opinion. Also, even if the fish they use IS wild caught, most wild caught fish contains high levels of mercury and other heavy metals, which would not be of huge concern if you were just enjoying a piece of fish for dinner, but IS a concern if you are ingesting large, concentrated amounts of it such as you would in a supplement. I am still of the mindset that organic flax is a better choice for omegas. Guest guest
ty brenda for the informative response. my husband also takes this for his high cholesterol and is very stubborn about dietary changes....another whole story..would the ground flax seed suffice for this issue. the doctor recommended this (fish oil) and he has been taking it for some time. i realize you are not a doctor and this is just your opinion but i value that opinion a great deal! ty. pam On Sun, Mar 6, 2011 at 11:38 AM, Berry <berrywell@...> wrote: Sure, Pam, I will give you MY opinion, but remember-it is just that, my opinion. There is no such thing as pristine water anywhere on our planet. It is all contaminated, largely by the companies who over harvest it in an effort to mass produce these products in the first place. If fishing boats are able to get there to harvest it, trust that the water is far from pristine. Second, they make a lot of claims about it being wild " caught " , not wild raised. This is a common deceptive marketing practice among companies. They catch the fish as spawn, which is enough to define it as wild " caught " , but they raise the spawn in intensively farmed tanks. Guest guest
In my opinion, doctors push fish oil just like they push all of their other pills. It is MUCH easier AND tastier to get the same benefits from flax. Keep in mind, that NO pill or supplement is going to undo the effects of a bad diet to start with, but I bet hubby would be quite happy munching a delicious muffin with flax hidden in it than he would be swallowing an expensive pill. Flax is so easy to add to many, many things. I know you are aware that I am NOT suggesting you ignore his doc, so I won't bother with my "disclaimer", but my own mother was swallowing loads of cholesterol/triglyceride lowering drugs and fish oils for YEARS-with no change in results. Once I (gently) convinced her to try things my way, and she started using flax, her doctor was astounded at the improvement (almost immediate at that) in her blood tests, and wanted to know what she had done differently. ALL she had done was start adding flax to her daily diet, and she quickly discovered that flax baked into a muffin is WAY better than an expensive pill that creates fishy farts!! It is every so easy to mix up a healthy batter for muffins, full of good stuff like oats, flax, sunflower seeds, walnuts, etc (you can have fun creating here) in your Vitamix. Hubby thinks he is getting a yummy treat, when really he is getting his dose of health promoting "medicine". http://www.lifescript.com/Health/Everyday-Care/Health_Basics/6_Natural_Ways_to_Ease_Fibromyalgia_Pain.aspx?utm_campaign=2011-03-05-74915 & utm_source=healthy-advantage & utm_medium=email & utm_content=healthy-well-wise_6%20Natural%20Ways%20to%20Ease & FromNL=1 & sc_date=20110305T000000 __________ NOD32 5929 (20110305) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com __________ NOD32 5930 (20110306) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
I am absolutely of the mindset that one can get ALL of their Vitamins through diet alone. I do recognize that it is not always possible, even for me. I don't take supplements of ANY kind, due to allergies, but I do give my daughter a supplement when I feel that she hasn't had time to get proper nutrition through food (this is rare, but I do keep some on hand for her) I do think PILL forms of supplements are a total waste of time and money-they often pass right on through undigested. If a supplement is needed, I think a good LIQUID vitamin is a better choice. I give my daughter BURIED TREASURE brand when I think she needs it, but I prefer to just give her a yummy smoothie each day that has the natural form of vitamins in it. http://www.lifescript.com/Health/Everyday-Care/Health_Basics/6_Natural_Ways_to_Ease_Fibromyalgia_Pain.aspx?utm_campaign=2011-03-05-74915 & utm_source=healthy-advantage & utm_medium=email & utm_content=healthy-well-wise_6%20Natural%20Ways%20to%20Ease & FromNL=1 & sc_date=20110305T000000 __________ NOD32 5929 (20110305) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com __________ NOD32 5930 (20110306) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
Guest guest
I started my mom off by just having her add some ground flax (organic golden) to ALL of her baked goods, and making a daily muffin with it (using the flax instead of egg) You can add it to any of your favorite recipes. If using as an egg substitute, just put a tablespoon of ground flax in a small bowl or mug, add about 1/4 cup of WARM water, stir with a fork, then cover and let it "gel" for about 5 minutes. It will be the EXACT same consistency as an egg, and can be used the same way. Add this to any favorite muffin recipe (I make gluten free muffins, so I doubt my "recipe" would interest many) You can throw in sunflower seeds, nuts, etc. Homemade apple or pear butter made in the Vitamix is a wonderful spread for the muffins, and when made with natural ingredients is yet another good source of yummy nutrition. I think so many of us are afraid of "healthy" things-and people tend to scoff that it MUST taste bad if it is "healthy". Just don't use the TERM "healthy". Tell hubby you made him a batch of YUMMY muffins (or cupcakes, etc) and give him a bowl of nice pumpkin butter to slather on it-he won't KNOW (or CARE) that it is healthy! http://www.lifescript.com/Health/Everyday-Care/Health_Basics/6_Natural_Ways_to_Ease_Fibromyalgia_Pain.aspx?utm_campaign=2011-03-05-74915 & utm_source=healthy-advantage & utm_medium=email & utm_content=healthy-well-wise_6%20Natural%20Ways%20to%20Ease & FromNL=1 & sc_date=20110305T000000 __________ NOD32 5929 (20110305) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com __________ NOD32 5930 (20110306) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com

Guest guest
Pam, I also use flax seed (in addition to CLO). Organic flax seed is very inexpensive and I throw a few TBSPs in my smoothie every morning. You can experiment with it that way very easily. If your smoothie is cold it won't thicken up too much. I'm sure mentioned this, but buy the whole seed and grind it yourself; pre-ground is probably already rancid when you buy it. I just throw the whole seeds in my smoothie and they get ground up with everything else. , why do you buy golden versus brown flax seeds?
