Guest guest
I just went and looked up some of my sons old thyroid tests. In Aug of 2004 his TSH level was 5.190 uIU/ml the reference range they give is 0.400- 8.10. I had this ordered by our regular pediatrician and done at our local childrens hospital? I do believe he has thyroid problems. Where can I find in print the new limits, I want to take it to the Dr.'s office. Dawn

Guest guest
ok..now I am looking at 's last result from March.... TSH High Sensitivity Low Range .50 High Range 4.5 uIU/ml and 's result was 8.62. T4 Unbound Low Range 0.7 and High Range 1.6. NG/DL 1.0 These were done at s Hopkins and no one said anything about the TSH being too high. I'll email the doctor and see what is up. Ironically, my thyroid level was up the last time I had blood work. I am to have it retested this year. Cindh

Guest guest
I have heard of the levels being different, but then I haven't had any success in having a doctor confirm this. My son has hypothyriodism and for years they kept saying it was just on the boarderline and they wouldn't worry about it. Finally, with my insistance, he was given medication. Before the meds he was passing out and he also did not grow at all for many years. So, yes, I do think that people with Ds have a totally different level and that it should be noted when testing.
