If my stock gets low, I get all twitchy. :-) I have so many greens right now,

it's ridiculous! Green Smoothies for everyone!! Am I alone in this? :-)Amber

I have feed bags and horse manure but I don't quite understand the feed bags on the ground thing, and I don't think feed bags would look too good hanging around the house. I would love to grow strawberries indoors. In the cold Canada though. but does that matter if they are inside?

I just got my Vitamix about a week and a half ago and I'm already stressing about not having enough fruit and greens for my smoothies. I now have more fruit and veggies in my house than I EVER have and yet it's just not enough. Why am I constantly on the lookout for more smoothie ingredients? I would like to attend this 12 step program before I get out of hand. I do have a deep freeze in my garage though so I have room to grow - just in case. ;)Angie

I spent 15 years working at a horse clinic, surgery clinic. I loved it and it was very interesting. I am a vet tech. but then all of the vets and the surgeons starting fighting, too many bosses and it downsized 3 times then finally the last surgeon left moved it further away and I was laid off. Now taking an online course in a new field and should be studying instead I am reading all the vitamix emails! OOPs!

I'm SO envious (of the horses, not of the manure). I LOVE to ride and wish I could afford to do it better. I had a mounted cop tell me that he really likes when people like me stop and pet the horses because it has a calming effect on them. Granted, you have the occasional fellow who decides to open a bag of tortilla chips you picked up at Whole Foods or who poaches a stroller-bound toddler's french fries but that's part of their charm, isn't it? :(=)I still remember being kissed by a police horse in Times Square not long after I moved to NYC. I just love horses.

k... I do believe you that the feed bags could look nice, but I am not creative and do not have a green thumb so mine would likely look like just feed bags hanging. :) I also lack confidence in myself but am determined this year to have a garden

We went to Asheville last summer and loved it, except that it was 102 degrees on

top of Chimney Rock in early July! Do you live in that area or closer to Chapel

Hill? My parents live in Southport in the Cape Fear area (in the winter only,)

so I have only been in the NC mountains once. The part we saw looks much like

the Shenandoah Mountains here in VA. My parents live in the Adirondacks in

upstate NY in the summer--we just love the mountains!

No, you don't HANG the feedbags! They would split open if hung-far too heavy. You would use the feedbags by filling them with soil, then laying them down flat on the ground, then cut X's in equally spaced places across the front of the bag, then put your seedlings in the X. You can hang small bags that don't weigh much, but certainly not a feedbag! Would pull your rafters down, lol.

Beverly,

What kind of horses and do you ride them? I was married to a farmer but I was the horse person. He was a "real" farmer and horses are hay burners, yet he fought me in the divorce for the horses, just to hurt me for sure and I got 3 out of 6 of them. That hurt me! He also go the kids, that hurt me too. He has dairy cows, beef cows, goats, chickens, pigs, sheep, and 3 of my ponies actually. Oh and he has several dogs and none of the animals are looked after probably and it killed me to see it. I have the 2 ponies now and a horse at a friends and my one dog. I love my animals! Most of the ponies and horse I raised from babies, broke and trained them myself. My middle daughter still rides and shows hunter/jumper. I think I could write a book actually. Thought of a blog but don't know how to do that.

I have no intention of having them in the house. I live in Arizona and I am hoping that by growing some veggies in the feed bags it will help to conserve some of that precious moisture we so desperately need here. Well, they are almost big. All of our animals are dwarfs, or mini,

depending the the breed. We're getting 2 more Americana chickens this week.

You sure had it bad. I'm glad you got some of the animals. They are great

to have around.
