Why should we keep our old IEP's?

**Because the new people on this list are always asking what types of goals

we had in 1st or 3rd grade and I can't remember.

**Because I know we had that goal, why do we need to do it again?

**Because there are TIMES that you need to go and and remind yourself how

much your child has learned.

**Because there are times you want to reread the IEP's and remember the

meetings and laugh.

**For documentation, " Don't tell me you can't write that into the IEP, we

did it 3 years ago. "

**Maverick's inclusion specialist took notes and typed them up for each

monthly meeting all through elementary school. She then presented a binder

with them so we could look back and see what we worked on and how it worked

for future reference. It's like a memory book for me, some good, some bad.

But it's sure great to have!

Di dear, keep those old IEP's. I will be pulling out some of 's - I

especially want the PLOPS. He is showing major regression in middle school

and as soon as report cards come out, I'll be pulling on my thigh high

leather boots!

Probably not, but LOL I saved mine too. I think they all go in one thick

folder. I know what you mean....it like it's part of you... Won't be too long

when I decide to get rid of them because dealing with the school system was

always they hardest part for me of having a son with ds.

Shirley, mom to Josiah now 22yo

Is there any reason that i would need to keep old IEPs now that my daughter is

leaving the school system? I just can't bring myself to throw them out, I guess

because I worked so hard on them!
