Guest guest
AND...as far as suaree sites......what about Ohio? Pretty much mid-stage.....lots of places & things to do.....not too expensive compared with some other areas. Indiana is also another great place, kinda in the middle.....also has some nice places. Just food for thought...consider it. AUSTRALIA WOULD BE AN EVEN BETTER PLACE FOR A GET TOGETHER !!!!!! - just a bit of extra food for thought, Leis and I will arrange the catering for those keen to venture here (sorry Leis just dobbed you in big time- he he). Guest guest
I'm all for OHIO!!! Although the only fun thing close to us would be the Hall of Fame-and I don't know about the other moms, but I couldn't care less about the Hall of Fame!!! Lol We do have Geauga lake which is good for all ages. There are many different ideas that we could go for; Picnic like last year (which was FUN-but really, really HOT), theme park, hotel picnic. Jill, help me out here. This is our chance to meet!! RE: suaree vs soiree AND...as far as suaree sites......what about Ohio? Guest guest
Hey, you still have Sea World located next to Geauga Lake? I grew up in nearby Ravenna - I'd be up for a trip to Ohio as long as my big kids didn't did me for that specific weekend (rumor has it TJ is planning on getting married this summer - I do know he's going to propose to his gf any day now). ANyway, I would love to take to Sea World. > I'm all for OHIO!!! Guest guest
Sandusky is on the shores of Lake Erie about 70 miles from Toledo and 40 from Cleveland. We would be near the Lake Erie Islands (Put-in-Bay, Kelleys), Cleveland (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Indians, Cleveland zoo,...), Toledo (zoo (one of the best in the country (supposedly), Mudhens, COSI...). Cedar Point is in Sandusky, they also have 3 huge hotel/waterpark resorts (probably expensive in the middle of summer). My guess is, although there is a LOT to do in Northern OH in the summer, it is also more expensive. Possibly we could find a deal at a hotel (not the resort/waterpark type) for a group and then meet at a park???? Possibly the Columus area would be less expensive with other attractions to make it a vacation destination. Guest guest
Sea World is no longer there...boo hoo. The company that owns Cedar Point bought Geauga Lake/Sea World and did away with the Sea World part...I can't remember what that part is now...maybe a water park. We loved Sea World. Guest guest
Wow, that is news to me! There is another amusement park near Columbus Ohio - I can't remember the name of it off hand, but I do remember it's very kid friendly (or was when my first two were small). I like the idea of any size group meeting anywhere - whether it be Australia, the west coast, Florida, Ohio, Europe, UK, WV or ???? I'd enjoy hearing about any and all - even if I can't go. Guest guest
Goanna's are a type of lizard, witchetty grub is a white chubby grub that Aborigines charactistically eat, and yabbys I believe are like very small prawns. Guest guest
We have emus. We butchered and ate most of them a couple of years ago. Now we just kept one pair who are laying eggs madly. We'll see if they hatch them. I wasn't impressed with the emu meat, pretty bland, we used a lot of it to make taquitos and freeze them. I probably could have used some " down under " recipes. Guest guest
We don't regularly eat emu meat here - considered a gourmet meat! Generally thought of as tough, the steaks we had given to us once, had been pulverised through a tenderiser, so they could be eaten. (supposedly export quality) My previous comment in regards to BBQ Koala, was in relation to those poor creatures which have been cooked in the weekend bushfires near us (not close enough or heading our way to be a worry), but certainly spent the weekend smoke watching. Don't think even indigenous Australians would eat a Koala, meat would be very tainted from all the eucalyptus leaves they eat.
