Guest guest
There's a good article about FBAs at http://cie.asu.edu/fall98/miller_tansy_hughes/index.html One comment-if there is an additional dx like ADHD, etc., the behavior plan would need to take that into account and not taking it into account could impact the success of the plan. Re: Question about school FBA Don't touch the form until you talk to the school about the exact purpose of it and what it will be used for. Yes, you can refuse it if they can't convince you that it's a necessary component for perfroming the FBA and creating a " Positive Behavior Plan " . The purpose of the FBA is determine the antecedents for the child's behavior AT SCHOOL, not at home. I had a similar problem when we were in CA. The school district wanted the Regional Center (which provides services to parents at home in CA) to come work with to " fix " her behaviors. The rep from Regional Center came to an IEP meeting and explained that they would provide services at home if was a major behavioral problem there, including safety risk, but any issue at school was the school's responsibility, not the Regional Center's. I'ld be leary that they are trying to prove that your child's behaviors are due to issues (ie poor parentling) at home. - B In a message dated 1/6/2006 9:33:48 AM Eastern Standard Time, cbbtdillon@... writes: Have any of you who have had FBA's done had this sort of paperwork to fill out for an FBA? I'm not looking for another label or diagnosis for my child and if I were I sure wouldn't be looking to the school do it. How and why would this information be used to perform an FBA? There is so much crap going on with this school. Can I refuse to complete this form?
