well i received my dvd today. i only did one of the shorter beginner practices but i thought i would review the chapters and such as well.

this is quite a variety dvd with close to 40 workouts according to the box. it's led by jj gormley. she has quite quiet tone to her voice which makes the workout relaxing. she is seemed pretty thorough with her instruction. which it takes me to the chaptering. one of the chapters was label Lesson:Principles. this is a quick 6 min. overview of jj going over some of her terminology(..."this is what i mean when i say brining your hip points together")so just a word to anybody who might want to purchase this dvd, just watch this quick overview before starting so you know what she is saying during the practice.

the workout chapters are pretty easy to follow. it goes by level and time. for example there is beginner practices under 3o mins., go there and there will be 9 different workouts for beginner practices under 30 mins. or beginner practices 30 or more mins. etc etc. each chapter has about 6-9 different workouts. what i noticed that seemed pretty neat too was that some of the practices were for certain body parts(neck, back, abs and arms challenge) ,meditation, and even a practice for that TOM for each level.

i think i made a good purchase with this dvd. i really wanted more yoga variety with different length and levels of practices. this was true bargain, since i don't have to buy 45 different dvds for what i can get out this one.

now for the practice i did today. it was a beginner practice,30 mins, entitled "flow series". this was a bit different from yoga routines i am used to. usually it starts with surma namaskar, but this practice did not,it was more in the middle of the practice. it started with what jj referred to as the "seated series" doing spine twists in 6 different directions to stretch and awaken the spine.

next she moved to the "table series" which involved the cat stretch, hip flexor stretch(lunge with back knee on the floor), and some hamstring stretchs. afterwards we moved onto sun salutations and moon salutes.i cannot remember the name of the next "series" but there were some forward bends standing up, to stretch and lengthen the spine. it then moved onto "lunge series" which explains itself, most of this series was moving from downward dog into a lunge flow. after this we went into corpse pose. the only complaint i had for the practice was that she talked during the corpse pose segment. its one thing to guide the person through it but after a bit she seemed to talk, just to talk i guess. it seemed unnecessary after a point.

i want to try another beginner practice later. i just want to get a feel for her style a little more before i move into the intermediate/advanced practices. besides i am to excited about a new dvd just to let it sit there while i watch tv. that's just a sin.
