Guest guest
I was born in Mildenhall, and my best friend lives there. I visit him whenever I am there. We go pick wild berries on a bluff just above the base at Lakenheath. What a delightful area! He owns and runs the American radio station ZETA DIGITAL that covers the whole East Anglia area. Just talked to him this morning, in fact. Made me wish I was there! May I thank you and your son as well? Re: Tortilla soup I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath and my son is currently at RAF Milldenhall both are in Suffolk. It was probably one of my most favorite overseas assignments. Tlong Think Positive Be Positive I had never heard of Penzey's, and my niece kept telling me about "this awesome spice store" in Orlando. Since I grow my own, I had little interest in it at the time. With all the talk on here about Penzey's lately, I asked my niece what the name of "that awesome spice shop" was, and sure enough-it's Penzey's! I plan to check it out next time I am visiting her in Orlando-quite likely this spring. I just planted a crop of my "seasoning he rbs" in my hydroponic garden today, so I will be buzzing up spice mixes in the VM in due time. Guest guest
Thank you! I will forward your thank you to him shortly. I have been trying to get him to join the group as I bought him a VM after his motorcycle accident where his jaw was wired shut for 6 weeks. The VM was the only reason they let him out of the hospital. Their food was causing him to lose weight and as soon as I started bring him Taco Bell, KFC, and home cooked food he started gaining weight. The nutritionist at the hospital was intrigued that using the VM worked. Guest guest
Good grief, I was wired shut back in the early '80s after oral surgery. WHAT a trip! Too bad I didn't know about the Vitamix back then because I had to live on blended food. I used to have dreams that I was chewing on caramels (which I don't even like). I bought a Goldberg's brownie to eat immediately after I was "unwired." Re: Tortilla soup Thank you! I will forward your thank you to him shortly. Guest guest
We spent some time at RAF Boscombe Down in Amesbury, Wiltshire. Not everyone is lucky enough to live in the shadow of Stonehenge, so we consider ourselves very fortunate! I also know that the personal and professional demands on soldiers are fairly extreme right now. Please thank your son for his continued service. Guest guest
Hello ,Tomatoes are VERY frothy (visit my Vitamix Lady website and the FAQ page) it explains how to get the "foaminess" out of things - works like a charm on the tortilla soup. If you put in a hand full of tortilla chips while the machine is on variable #1 and let them get lightly chopped before serving the soup, the froth goes away instantly. But when I am at home, I use the lower variable speeds as described in my FAQ to get rid of the foam, and we crumble the corn chips on top. I make chopped salads (tuna, sardine, chicken, all veggie, etc.) frequently, and I use my VM to make the mayonnaise that goes in them. I make blended salads (greens, veggies, something tart (either lemon or vinegar) something for the fat - I usually use a hand full of walnuts) I make the V8 recipe that is on our links page. I make the Cold Green Soup that is on the recipe page of my Vitamix Lady website. I make hot veggie soups ALL OF THE TIME there are discussions of me and my soups in the archives, with recipes, but in general (without going into the recipes) I make soups from: carrots sweet potato cauliflower (actually I make them into something like mashed potatoes) asparagus kale collard tomato (I know that is out for you) squashes of all kinds including pumpkin, acorn, winter, zucchini, yellow Coconut Butter (my new daily staple) Coconut Milk Nut Butters I don't make these, but you could make Lemon or Lime Icees And here is something fun - Google Miracle Fruit tablets and if you buys some of these you can have a lemon or lime icee with NO sugar added!!! (your Google search will explain it all) I used my VM to make butter (the dairy kind from raw cream) a couple of days ago. I use it for even more than these reasons, but figure that since I am on a diet similar to yours, this might inspire you to see that it can be used for a LOT of things besides smoothies and without fruit! I have LOVED my Vitamix until the last 12 days. I have not made anymore morning smoothies or green drinks. It is frustrating a heartbreaking too. I have recently been diagnosed with leaky gut and candidiasis. I am on a already restricted lifestyle of eating due to gluten/grain sensitivity. Now for the past 12 days ( and the next 3 Months!) I am not allowed ANY fruit, no avacados, no tomato. I can have limes and lemons and that is it! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK. Sorry, I had to let that out, I am in the middle of candida die off and I think it dies off part of your thinking too.....LOL,for real. Anyway, Please share with me your favorite green drinks & smoothies that have NO fruit but yet are palatable. Thank you so much for your sharing. I really do not want to return my VM, but if I am not going to be able to use it anymore, then I cannot justify buying it. In His Grace...
