Guest guest
I made my first tortilla soup recipe. My own version because I don't have The spice it up seasonings. I would have bought some when I got my vitamix but the demonstrator was out. So I just used my own seasonings, and I used left over taco meat. Man this is good and my 13 yr old thinks so too. karenk
Guest guest
Good for you! Although I usually follow a recipe pretty closely (if I have the ingredients) the first time I make it, I'm always thinking in terms of tweaking. Glad it turned out for you and if you have a Penzeys nearby, just get some adobo powder and/or Arizona Dreaming. You can catch up on the Blend It Up the next time your demonstrator is in town if you don't want to pay to have it shipped. Tortilla soup I made my first tortilla soup recipe. Never herd of adobo powder or Arizona Dreaming either. Lol Oh well. It did turn out well. A bit too thick for me, but my daughter dipped her tortillas in it. Guest guest
Well, if you go into Seattle, check them out! http://www.yelp.com/biz/penzeys-spices-seattle Adobo powder is a seasoning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobo . The original Vitamix tortilla soup recipe calls for 1 tbsp. of adobo powder but I think it's a misprint. I've always used a teaspoon and it's perfect. Guest guest
I had never heard of Penzey's, and my niece kept telling me about "this awesome spice store" in Orlando. Since I grow my own, I had little interest in it at the time. With all the talk on here about Penzey's lately, I asked my niece what the name of "that awesome spice shop" was, and sure enough-it's Penzey's! I plan to check it out next time I am visiting her in Orlando-quite likely this spring. I just planted a crop of my "seasoning herbs" in my hydroponic garden today, so I will be buzzing up spice mixes in the VM in due time. <SENDER_EMAILkamako@wavecable@@com.png> I don't have a Penzys nearby, never heard of it.
