Hi Everyone,

I decided to take a rest day this morning - my back is

really tight and yesterday I threw my hip out and/or

over-stretched/strained my hip flexor. Ugh! I did

manage to do a nice gentle yoga practice yesterday

afternoon - I did the hips, knees & feet beginner

practice from Yoga Complete for Every Body. It felt

good and made me really see how much tension I'm

carrying in my body.

On the subject of backs - since so many of us (kerry,

debbie, et al. on the FIRM list) have been having

issues, I started thinking about possible causes.

Here are some I've come up with for me - not enough

rest/sleep. This past week I was very busy at work

and since I work at home part of the time the lines

between my work and home life are often blurred and

I'm often working late at night or early morning and

not getting enough sleep. I'll bet this can be a

contributing factor to back pain in that your body is

always " on " so it never gets a chance to totally

relax. Another thought I had is that last week I did

lots of core work using Charlene Prickett's workouts

which are very core focused - perhaps I over did it

and shouldn't work my core so hard so many times per

week. I think I probably worked it hard 3X last week

and maybe that is too much for me and contributed to

the tightness. Just some thoughts.... Anyway, I

decided to sleep in a bit (for me - I like to get up

early to get some stuff done and have some quiet time

before everyone else is up!) and perhaps skip my

workout - FlexPosture, which I'll do tomorrow. If I

get a chance I might sneak a restorative yoga session

in this afternoon during my DD's nap time. But I do

have lots of " projects " I want to do - most of which

involve spring cleaning and decluttering - exercise in

and of themselves!

Oh, I have new respect for Upper Body Burn - my arms

are sore in places they haven't been in a while. I

guess all those uneven push-ups and variations thereof

have done something! My triceps and back (lats) are

also sore. Maybe I'll like this one better next time

around.

Take care everyone!

Donna
