You can mix them with nuts to make a pie crust.

Put it all in the blender and then press into a pie plate.

An example would be...

Crust:

2 cups pecans

1 cup walnuts

¾ cup pitted and packed, medjool dates

1. In a food processor, combine all ingredients until they become crumbly. Press

half of the mixture into a 9 " pie plate.

This one has extra to go on top since it is for an apple pie.

I got another recipe recently that I want to try that doesn't use raspberries. I

can't remember it now :(

Here's another crust:

1c pecans

1/4c - 1/3c dates

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

pinch, sea salt

yes it's delicious.

hmm I'm not sure for a quiche. It might be a little sweet for that.

I used it for a pumpkin pie, apple pie and sweet potato. All were 100% raw.

I would say it's a healthy crust. It wont be so hard on the pancreas and is full

of omegas, antioxidants and other nutrients since it is raw. Some of the

benefits would be lost if cooked but still better than a refined, processed

crust.

I don't worry about good fats. I eat all of them I want within reason. They will

make your skin look better and joints feel better. There is a long list of

benefits of omega fatty acids. Most of us need more. That is why the avocado

mousse is so wonderful. It is so nutritious.

If you go off of meat, dairy, sugar and processed foods and eat 70-90% of your

food in the raw, fresh form, you will never need to count calories again.

Another idea is to mix nuts and apples in the vitamix, pop them in the

dehydrator before going to bed and have warm, raw healthy cookies for breakfast.

Berries are the healthiest fruits, especially when combined with nuts so I

should try to incorporate berries into a cookie recipe. Any ideas?

I have been using the Nutrition tracker at www.sparkpeople.com to answerthat question when I make something. Add all the ingredients to a meal andthen scroll down the page to where it says " see today's report " and thatwill give you a breakdown on that group. TlongThink Positive Be Positive

I use them in anything that needs sweetness. I used them in place of sugar (until I got used to Stevia and switched to that).

i'm also new to vitamix with a 5200 machine. i'm not sure you need a recipe.

what i did was just play and ended up with a wonderful concoction. in my case i

bought date paste at the farmers market. basically its all the different

varieties of dates chopped up and formed into a block.

i took a hunk of that, 1/2 cup more or less of greek yogurt, and topped that off

with five ice cubes then blended. i added another 5 ice cubes and further

blended. i ended up with an ice creamy/smoothie type of thing and it was

absolutely fab.

i did something similar previously but this was much better.

personally, the vitamix is my new play toy. my husband has asked me how i got

along with out it all this time and i told him i got along without it because i

just did not prepare certain things. like creamy soups which i can now make w/o

having to keep dairy around. i just drop a scoop of organic dry non-fat milk in

and add water if i feel the need. however, most veggies will whip just fine w/o

the added dry milk.

play Play PLAY: don't feel you have to follow a recipe.
