Guest guest
Hello All, I am new and I am wondering what you use your vitamix's for when you use it more than once a day (other than a smoothie). This is really all I use mine for. I was hoping to get some ideas on using mine more than I do. I was wondering if those that use their VMix more than once a day could outline or share what they used their vitamix for, yesterday or today, more than once a day. Like a one day journal or something like that. Hope that makes sense. :-) Thanks so much.
Guest guest
I am happy to share how I give my Vitamix a workout. I typically start the day by grinding grains in the Vitamix to make a daily loaf of bread and crackers. I am celiac, so I use a blend of gluten free grains, but I also use wheat for my daughter. I then make a batch of butter in the Vitamix, from fresh raw cream. (I use the butter residue as a skin/hair conditioner) I then usually make a smoothie of some sort. Although we drink raw cow's milk, we also like homemade rice or almond milk, so I typically make that in the morning as well. Lunchtime typically finds me making a quick, light soup and a batch of muffins of some kind, both done in the VM, I am fond of pureed veggies as a base for sauces, soups, etc., so my daily routine also includes steaming my veggie of choice, and pureeing it in the Vitamix. The evening meal is typically another soup to go with the fresh baked bread. At some point through the day, I will make a blended fruit drink, like a thick "juice". Sometimes I strain that in a jelly bag, other times not. We usually end the evening with a hot drink, such as cocoa, which becomes ultra frothy and lovely from the Vitamix. For non food use, I often make a nice body powder by grinding tapioca pearls in to a fine dusting powder (a drop of essential oil can be added if you want it scented) I grow veggies indoors year round with grow lights and hydroponics, so I make a compost tea for those with left over veggie scraps, seaweed, and other plant nutrients. As you can see, the Vitamix is "on duty" pretty much all day. So nice that it is all quick, and easy to clean up. It occurs to me that Vitamix should put me on there payroll, or at least on a television commercial, :)From: <justin@...>Subject: A Day in the Life Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 12:52 PM Hello All, I am new and I am wondering what you use your vitamix's for when you use it more than once a day (other than a smoothie). Guest guest
This is a great question. , you are amazing! I never thought of using my Vita-mix for so many uses! My Vita-mix usually makes at least one smoothie for each of our family members, but not all at the same time. I also use it to make salad dressing for dinner, grind wheat & grains for homemade bread, make dips (I make a dip/sauce called 'Yumm-y Sauce' that I almost always have in my fridge---I have a recipe on my blog, if interested), and I make things like cashew cream. Though I don't make as many bodycare items as , I do grind up Adzuki beans for an excellent body scrub! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't use my Vita-mix for something! -Amber http://berlinswhimsy.typepad.com > > From: <justin@...> > Subject: A Day in the Life > > Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 12:52 PM > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > Hello All, I am new and I am wondering what you use your vitamix's for when you use it more than once a day (other than a smoothie). Guest guest
, Hey, I use mine yesterday for a green smoothie for breakfast, then I made fresh almond butter for my daughters lunch, then some regular butter for general use, then I made a pesto sauce for my tortellini for dinner. Now obviously I do not have to make almond butter and regular butter everyday but there are so many possibilities. Look in you cookbook and figure what works best for you. I also make humus, guacamole etc. Here is a web page from vitamix that tells you 52 things you can do with you machine. http://www.vitamix.com/household/products/super5000/maxnut.asp You probably have seen it but it can give you some ideas too.
