Guest guest
I'm using Levaquin, a powerful antibiotic to fight a serious respiratory infection caused by resistant pseudomonas. A potential adverse effect of the antibiotic is anaphylactic shock. I obtained an EpiPen to use in case that developed (I live 80 miles from the nearest medical facility, and no EMT's are available nearby). The epinephrine may potentially cause VT, and other adverse cardiac events. However, if I went into anaphylactic shock, it would be a life-saving remedy. Like most of you, I have an AICD (2 leads). Does anyone know if the AICD would prevent sudden cardiac death from VT potentially induced by the antibiotic, or have you had an experience using the EpiPen while having an AICD? (I am on Amiodarone to reduce the likelihood of VT episodes). Norm
