Oh, you are SO right, Peggy! I had my tonsils out when I was 19, and my doc also said it was the worse case he had ever seen. It felt like someone chipped them out of me with an ice pic-HORRIBLE surgery! Knowing what I know now, I am not a huge fan of body parts being cut out randomly, but tonsils are best removed young from anyone who suffers repeat strep or chronic throat infections. Amber, for a sore throat, put about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of sea salt (I prefer Himalayan, but use whatever you have...just NOT MORTON'S!) in about 4 oz of comfortably warm water and gargle with that every hour or so. Used this on my kids for years. Works like a charm! (Of course they don't speak to me now, but that's another story, as is fond of saying... ;>) - it's a joke, folks!)HTH! When I was in high school, one winter I had strep throat (genuine strep, not sore throat) about once every 3 weeks for about 3 months. Finally had my tonsils out during Thanksgiving break my first year in college. Trust me...you don't want to wait until you are an adult to have your tonsils out. The Dr. said if he hadn't taken them out himself, he would have sworn they were gallstones (from the repeated

infections). Ouch. A couple of years ago I saw my roomie from that year at college and she still remembered the tonsil episode. She said I cried in my sleep from the pain. She uses the story to discourage people from waiting until adulthood for a tonsillectomy. Well, so much for that - sorry to be so OT. I do hope you feel better soon!Peggy

Years ago I went through this same cycle. They kept telling me that I had to take all of the antibiotic! I took all of it each time but they didn't believe me because it kept coming back. I asked if it had anything to do with my tonsils and they said no. I still have them and am almost 50Kim in ORHTH! I am totally with you on the Olive Leaf Extract - it is very effective at heading off upper respiratory tract infections.

This is not a vitamix remedy but I work in an elementary school so I know this works. Olive Leaf extract in pill form and zinc (also a pill). I will take two pills each 4 times a day when I feel getting sick. Most of the times it helps and prevents a cold from turning into a sinus infection or something worse. I always tell everyone to research Olive Leaf first, but it is a natural antibiotic. Good luck. Feel better. I will also up my Vitamin C doseage, but probably the Vitamix will be good for that.

Do you mind sharing more info on the olive leaf extract?  I went on Amazon and there are so many brands as well as doses and forms.  Does anyone have a good internet source?  Brand names to seek out or avoid?  That kind of info would help me.  Thanks.  Arlene in Ohio

I use a liquid olive leaf extract. I get it from http://www.ozarkherbal.com/

They are a private association that you have to join, but it is only $20 bucks to join and it is well worth it. They use the formulations of Dr. and Dr. Schulz.
