Guest guest
Good Morning, I just purchased my red Vitamix from qvc and I love all that it can do. One of the reasons I made the investment is to get health and lose weight. Does anyone here have a diet slash healthy eating plan that I can follow to accomplish my New Year - new ME goal? I have alot of weight to lose and one of the reasons I have been unsuccesful at everything is due to the lack of planning or having a road map. I can blend fabulous drinks but that doesn't automatically mean the weight will come off so I would like to appeal to you for gudiance .... Thanks inadvance for any input. Guest guest
I lost weight when I eliminated sugar and wheat from my diet and added one Green Smoothie per day. I lost more weight when I started drinking half of my body weight in ounces of water per day. These are pretty simple changes you can make that are effective - you could try these.Oh, and THANKS Marilyn - I used your quote, "my kids drive me crazy - I drive them everywhere else..." as my FB status for today :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Jan 11, 2011, at 7:51 AM, javachic wrote: Good Morning, I just purchased my red Vitamix from qvc and I love all that it can do. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the advice. I do know that drinking water is important. I keep water in my car during the winter and bring a large bottle into work with me daily. Since its cold outside the water stays ice cold. At work in room temp. it is perfect to drink when I am ready. The rest of your advice I will definaltey take toward making some healthy changes. I hope I can find you here in a few months with good news. And I am glad you liked my quote. I do love those sayings in life that motivate, make us think and appreciate life a little more everyday. Guest guest
I'll echo Lea Ann's advice. Green smoothies are great. I've been following Fuhrman's Eat for Life plan for 3 months and have lost 20 pounds. His advice, in a nutshell is: eat one pound of raw greens, one pound of cooked non-starchy veggies, one cup of beans, fruit as you like, and no more than one cup of whole grains or starchy veggies per day--and that should be 90% of your food intake. That leaves 10% for meat, dairy, fats, and whatever treats float your boat. Getting all those raw greens is easier drinking green smoothies. During winter, veggie-bean soups are great and during summer, veggie salads with beans. Cut the sugar, cut the starchy carbs by limiting grains to a cup a day...those seem to be the keys. If you feel hungry add more lean protein or nuts. Add more starchy veggies before you add more grains. That's what is working for me. Good luck.,ElissaP.S. " raw family " and " green smoothie girl " both have good websites with green smoothie recipes. My basic green smoothie is a banana, a cup of frozen berries (usually blue), maybe another cup of fruit, a scoop of whey protein powder, and two huge handfuls of raw greens, plus water to blend...I'll usually use one of kale or collards and a second of spinach, but start with all spinach until you are used to the idea of drinking green smoothies. If this alone is not sweet enough, try adding some more sweet fruit like grapes or pineapple rather than sweetener, and mix up the greens for more variety as your palate adjusts. Guest guest
Marilyn, Since I have been using my Vitamix I have found that my cravings for sweets are way down. It may be because of the smoothies or my mind is being programmed to eat (drink) healthier. Guest guest
I think we eat junk food to fill a void of nutrients - when we start drinking Green Smoothies we are filling that void :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Jan 11, 2011, at 12:52 PM, Char Dobbins wrote: Marilyn, Since I have been using my Vitamix I have found that my cravings for sweets are way down. Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Marilyn! One thing I have noticed with many new Vitamix users, is that they start feeling ENTHUSIASTIC about whole foods, and weight loss usually comes naturally. I think it is more of a mindset. If you feel like you "have" to lose weight, it becomes a chore. If you approach it as "I WANT to eat better", and you start having fun with it, it doesn't seem as threatening as a "diet", but more of a culinary adventure. Perhaps if you start thinking in terms of NUTRITION, rather than weight loss, it will be easier to manage. Making it fun is easy with the Vitamix! Happy to help in any way can, and I wish you the best success! Guest guest
I totally agree that eating healthier is the key, but in any diet it is also portion control and exercise. > > From: javachic <javachic1967@...> > Subject: Looking for Vitamix user dieting ideas > > Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 7:51 AM > > > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > > > > Good Morning, > I just purchased my red Vitamix from qvc and I love all that it can do.
