Maigne is a medical orthopaedist who is

widely known for his work on common disorders of the spine. It was he who

created the concept of Painful Minor Intervertebral Dysfunction (PMID). He

was involved in the setting up of the French Physical Medicine Society, and

has contributed to the development of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
