Guest guest
Try doing a search on the archives. I remember reading some great suggestions not too long ago. I don't eat it so I don't remember exactly what they were <G>. I've tried adding cucumbers, dill pickle relish, dill pickles, dijon mustard, garlic, etc. Colleen > I don't mind having tuna sandwhiches, but can anyone recommend a few > ways to prepare it so that it doesn't taste so plain? Guest guest
I mix tunafish w/ff mayonaise and lots of pepper and eat with celery stalks. I had to get used to the ff mayo; but now eat it every day! It's also good to mix it up; I buy chicken breast in a can (99% fat free) for a change; it's more expensive, but I eat a can every day so it's good to change it up. also, if I get ambitious; it's gerat w/some lemon juice! --- colleenp99 <colleen_meacham@...> wrote: > Try doing a search on the archives. Guest guest
I don't like the sweet taste of the ff mayo so I add a little garlic powder when I use it and a dash of salt. Guest guest
I really like it flaked over a big salad. Add any of your fav chopped up veggies and top with the tuna. Maybe some garbanzo or kidney beans for carbs and a good oil-vinegarette and you're set! I also really like to add some finely chopped capers (just a few), some lemon zest and salt and pepper. Kind of like a tuna nicoise-type of thing. But that's if I'm feeling really ambitious! I haven't made it yet, but I saw a recipe for tuna cakes. basically BFL-friendly crab cakes, but made with tuna instead. Sounds good! WHat brand of FF mayo do you use? Most of the stuff in my store replaces the fat with sugar so it ends up being less healthy. Ugh. Guest guest
Mrs Bishwits has tuna recipes on her site. There is one called the crunchy tuna snack. You mix a portion of tuna with ff or lowfat mayo, mustard and seasoning of your choice. Then chop up an medium sized apple. Mix everything together. It is really good. You can eat it like that or put it over a salad. She also has a recipe for tuna pasta salad. I am not sure of of complete recipe, but you mix tuna, whole wheat pasta, peas together. It is also very good. I am a big fan of tuna, but I heard that you should not eat it more that three times a week because of the mercury content. Check out the website though. There are tons of recipes. Mrsbishwits.com I think. - -- In @y..., kuranes <kuranes@s...> wrote: > > > Charmaine Pocek wrote: > > > I mix tunafish w/ff mayonaise and lots of pepper and > > eat with celery stalks. Guest guest
I use a blob of pureed cottage cheese instead of fat free mayo. Tastes good. No sugar. You have to really squeeze when you drain your though or it can be kind of watery. I use pureed cottage cheese for everything.
