Guest guest
Dear Senator ette: As a licensed chiropractic physician these past 29 years, I have seen many ill-considered and controversial health care issues promulgated by various self-centered interest groups. This is one of them. SB 359 seeks to reserve legal rights to a type of health care that PTs do not own. It seeks to remove the rights of qualified practitioners to continue providing what has been part of various legislatively defined provider Practice Acts for many many decades. This bill seeks to give PTs unique rights while removing routine physiotherapy services long offered by DCs, MDs, and DOs. The bill authorizes PTs ONLY to be able to advertise, promote, provide or offer such treatment or seek payment for traditional physiological therapeutics, otherwise known as 'physiotherapy'. This bill seeks to identify and limit physiotherapy as being available under the direction of a lesser qualified provider group than licensed physicians. This family of adjunctive health care services has been part of the curriculum of Western States Chiropractic College for decades prior to the establishment of the entire "PT" profession. These services have been a well-defined part of the the licensing act for DCs for nearly 90 years. Academic training of DCs is far in excess of the PT core program. Physiotherapy has long been part of the DC clinical training program. I seek your comments and urge your vote against SB 359. yours in health, Jack Pedersen DC 541-367-2105 Sweet Home, Oregon
