Hi Ron,

too many times, the anterior coccyx is NOT corrected with birthing ... it can be one of the biggest reasons for 'failure to progress', a torqued pelvis being another. Real GOOD excuses for emergency c-sections.

Judith, I have had success with putting the skin over the sacrum/coccyx area under traction, inferior to superior, and then using an activator to adjust this area. I don't believe this will correct the anterior coccyx, but it has been successful in relieving ongoing coccyx pain. Usually the coccyx alignment will be corrected with childbirth. I am not sure if the coccyx is really fractured, or the loud pop that is heard is just mistaken as a fracture. I have done a few coccyx adjustments and as long as you are gentle and work with the patient's breathing, they are usually tolerated fairly well. As a long time softball coach, I would ask this patient if they remember a wild pitch/passed ball striking them in the tail bone area. I would bet at one time or another this happened, if she has caught for any time at all. (Male catchers usually remember something else being damaged when this happens, not usually their tail bone)Anyway good luck. Grice, DCAlbany, OR
