Controversy rises over sending workers overseas for health care A workers union has stepped in to prevent plans by a North Carolina company to have an employee treated in India for medical procedures at a fraction of the cost of the treatment in the U.S. Even though the worker volunteered to get the treatments in India in return for a share in the company's savings, the union said the case sets a bad precedent in terms of companies taking the risk of sending workers overseas for health care, and they say workers should be offered health care options in the U.S. The New York Times (free registration) A.
