That is really interesting, I got as far as finding my American ancestors back to 1800, they were cattle ranchers in Washington State, I guess the ranch failed when the big freeze came and so many cattle perished, then it drops off to a blank, I was born in England, but my Grandpa came from America and married a German woman who was an opera singer, they had my Dad and of course he had me! On Mom's side we are all from the clan, a fact that I heard repeatedly when growing up, one ancestor was Burns, I sure did not inherit his talents! another in the 1600's was a Bishop of Lincoln Cathedral , at that time there was a lot of religious strife going on and the Cathedral would have been Catholic at that time, mebbe in the times of the Inquisition they migrated to America and started the American Branch of the family. How I would love to find out more, but what an unholy mess, wonder if any horse thieves were hung back then! Anne

Kristy, you asked what good this is, well I thought of one benefit, when one gets a mammogram, they ask if relatives ever had BC, who can really answer that question? That was a no no, one did not discuss this! They want( back for generations ) identifications of anyone who died of heart disease, who can really do that, but it is essential that they know, my dad died of cardiac disease, when I put that down on my chart they were VERY interested even if it happened almost 50 years ago. As we all know diseases can be inherited, it would be nice to know everything we can!!

I found him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My great grandfather, his wife and two of his children in the 1910 Census! I had some help from other researchers who had access to such records. My grandfather wasn't born yet, but it's the right family. I'm soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a major brick wall in my research.

Denisa, congrats on finding your family in the census. I too do genealogy, have been working on my father's side of the family. I'm at a dead end cause I don't know my ggg-grandfather's parents names As our family name is fairly common (Walton) and his name was common ()..it's been nearly impossible. I've found his marriage license, unfortunately, all it is are his and his wife's name, nothing else. I also found his original land grant from 1830..that was sooooooo cool. It's fun to search like that isn't it? You find out so many neat things. I've found numerous members of the family who were civil war vets..one who was killed in the civil war. No "black sheep" yet...but you never know. I'm also doing adoption searches, mainly for my husband, have hit a major brick wall on that one. I have found all but one sister (there were six siblings) and it's like she fell off the face of the earth.

Good luck with your searching. Terri B

How I agree with you on the medical history! Here's another catch. My husband is adopted. Until he was 41 years old, he couldn't answer any of the medical questions the doctors asked. Can you imagine how frustrating and frightening that is? That is one of the main reasons he decided to search for his birth family. (Besides wanting to know the circumstances surrounding his adoption.) He found out that in his family, diabetes and alcoholism were very strong. It would have been nice to have known that many years ago as his identical twin became an alcoholic at age 16. Medical records are soooooo important. By the way, he not only found his medical record, but he found two sisters and a brother he didn't know he had. Imagine going 41 years of your life not knowing your siblings? We are still searching for one sister to let her know the medical history and hoping it's not too late.
