Headache is better...Aches and pains are not though ( But to me that is normal... how is your headaches doing ??? Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {{{ Huge Hugs }}} Helen Hi Helen, Sorry to hear about those headaches today. I hope they will get much better too! Will be keeping you in my thoughts..... Wow, your internet connection sounds great! I use a modem unfortunately, so I download all my emails, then disconnect and read them offline. Guest guest
Yes, each winter I get a flu shot... They are offered to the elderly, weak, disabled, and chronic illnesses, children first... Then the public can get them if they have enough to go around... I am not taking anything for my sinus cold... I wait until it is really necessary to take something... I take a sinus pill twice a day year round, but it doesn't seem to help much in the cold months ( When I get my shots in the base of my skull, I do not get any sedative or anesthetic ( I just get the six to eight shots ( I usually pass out on him anyways, but this last time I at least waited until he was done...Yes they do hurt like sin, but when it is all over and done with the results out weigh the pain...Just wish the shots would last longer...Yes I go to the hospital again for the shots on the 19th of this month...Really am dreading it, but I have to do something, am in bad shape ( Didn't know anyone cared enough about me to worry... So THANKS !!! I will try and be good ) You be good and get rid of that cold !!! Keep me posted as how you are doing !!! When do you start teaching ??? {{{ Loving Hugs }}} Helen Hi Helen! "What did he say about your headaches??? NO Pneumonia this year !!!!!!!!! OK?????? Get rid of that cough, they are terrible !!!" The doc did not say anything........ He did not ask much actually, as I only asked for the cough drops through his nurse, after my appointment was over. "Got it a week ago !!! Now as long as it works ) " I am sure the flu shot will work! I suppose this is a regular event? Do you always get it during winter each year? "I have a sinus cold that I have had now for over three weeks ( It will most likely stay the rest of the winter ( The pains in my head and neck have gotten quit severe today... They are making me dizzy again, so I know I have problems again ( I do not get anymore shots until the 19th of this month... I HATE those shots, but the small pain of them is better than all this pain... I can't turn my head to the right now ( Turning it to the left I can still do half way... I have to use my hands again to hold my head up when I look up ( Rest of the body is turning on me also, so must be in a Fibro flare ( Hope my Lupus is still in remission... We must be heading into WINTER ) It feels like it... " I'm so sorry to hear about the cold and pain again....... I hate colds, I cannot sleep properly at night with them.... Are u taking any meds to ease the symptonms? You are getting the occipital nerve blocks on the 19th? I agree that these shots really HURT, but when they work, it is really worth the pain! I used to have a sedative when I get them, but I could not tolerate the sedative, so I only got a local anaethesthetic in the future blocks, so they really hurt quite badly for me. You take care too! Don't let me worry about you too! {{{{{{{ Sniff-free hugs }}}}}} Ling

Guest guest
Hi Helen, I'm so glad that you were not offended by what I wrote! Continue to talk to her as often as you can - let her know that all of you are with her and care about her. Will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts! Hugs, Ling Re: Ling You are not being cruel Ling... I Thank-You for your honesty... You have been there also ( No one knows what has happened to her, we just know that she is very ill ( When she does recognize us, we talk to her as much as we can... Cause it doesn't stay for very long...Again Thanks. Hugs HelenHi Helen,What I am going to say may sound a little cruel, I'm very sorry, but it is also what i observed from my mum and read from a book:As one goes through the path of living with a chronic illness, there comes a terminal stage. This does not refer to cancer only, but generally all chronic illnesses. There are tell-tale signs for such a stage. The person becomes bed-ridden, prone to infections, unable to control their bowel movements, and so on.... Then they become delirious and confused, sometimes recognising and then not recognising their family members. My mother experienced all these symptoms in the last month before she died. It was only later when I read a book on coping with the death of a loved one, that I realised what I had observed from my mum were all the tell-tale signs. The best thing we as family can do is then to make them as comfortable as they can. Please forgive me if I sound too harsh.... I just want to share what I experienced...Ling
Guest guest
Helen, That part about the some days she knows you and then you go back an hour later and she won't know you at all does make sense. That's part of the dementia process. People who are demented are often times Sundown Syndrome. What this means is that at nite when you and I are asleep they are wide awake and thinking that at 2 a.m. it's time to start getting ready for the new day to start. Even just taking a very short nap can cause this sun down sensation b/c each time they go to sleep and then wake up in their minds they think it's a new day even though the day isn't over yet. Do you ever visit WebMD? If yes, visit the Alzheimer's board. I know that she doesn't have Alzheimer's but this board will help you learn a lot and help you understand even more in detail what I'm talking about. Also the lady in charge of this board is an RN that works a lot with patients who have dementia and Alzheimer's. She wrote a book that I got about 3 months before grandma died. I wish that I would have had the book when I first started out this last year of her life. Also, get in touch with the Alzheimer's Association's local chapter in your area. I called on them often when things started to get very difficult with my grandma b/c I ended up being her primary care giver while my mom was at work. And when we finally put her in Adult Daycare during the work week I slept while she would be there and Mom at work. Grandma would come home at about 3 p.m. and then I took care of her from the time she got home until Mom got home. When Mom would come home I would then go take a nap for about 3 or 4 hours and then stay up all nite until 7 a.m. (that's when grandma would leave for Daycare). It was also quite a task to get my mother's brothers and her niece to understand that she and I couldn't do it all by ourselves. If we needed time to ourselves (Mom and I) and get away for the weekend and we would ask them to help out they would gripe. I would keep telling Mom that we needed to get help from the cong but she felt that family should be first but she understood later what I was talking about. Yes, Helen, I know exactly what you all are dealing with and Hospice will not only take very good care of your MIL in the enviroment that she and hubby want her in but it will also give you all a much needed break for a part of the day. I've been in a lot of pain this a.m. that actually made me cry so I'm headed to bed shortly before I call my dr at 11 to see what she wants me to do the rest of this week. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
New Year cake are special food that we get to eat during Chinese New Year only. There many types, depending on the dialect groups. It is quite sweet, hence the sin! Red packets are given by parents to their children or given by married people to the unmarried ones - they are red envelopes containing money. They are given mainly for good luck.
