Guest guest Posted December 11, 2006 Report Share Posted December 11, 2006 FDA OK's CryoLife's tissue repair matrixATLANTA, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- CryoLife said Monday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved ProPatch, a matrix used to reinforce weakened soft tissues.ProPatch, developed from bovine pericardial tissue, can be used for a variety of soft tissue repair indications, a $600 million market."ProPatch provides an effective alternative to the products available for soft tissue repair," said , CryoLife's president and chief executive officer. "The indications for its use are broad and varied, particularly for hernia repairs in which the use of a natural tissue product, such as ProPatch, is preferred."Other indications include chest wall repair, muscle flap reinforcement, rectal and vaginal prolapse and reconstructive procedures.
