Guest guest
Dr. : You certainly have a way with words. I agree with the general thrust of your response to the 'millions killed by deranged chiropractor' headlines.... And I'd like to believe 'OUR philosophy is better than THEIR philosophy'....but as one of them chiropractors who simultaneously holds the notions of -Vitalism -Naturalism -(W)Holisim -Conservatism -as well as the attempt to satisfy those 'critical rationalists' among us, I have accumulated precious little actual objective evidence that demonstrates that to be true....a heretical comment I realize....yet, show me the problem is simply not whether we use orthotics or neutraceuticals (whatever they are promoted as today) in the face of whatever latent opposition or hostility may eminate from whichever profession claiming such professional turf.... The Large Issue remains those perceptions, that whoever is doing it, 'chiropractic manipulation' is dangerous and/or foolhardy.... I believe each instance of this reported (and we've all seen how accurate THAT can be)....that which remains in the public eye for far too long, is a tainted view of CHIROPRACTIC.... And I agree attempting to stifle others from doing whatever it is, would be an ineffective waste of time and effort, as well as beside the point, of concern for proper patient care. Too often the 'MY dogma is better that YOUR dogma' train of technique-junkie thoughts, which results in internecine warfare that weakens and distracts OUR members from best attending their patients by whichever method.... and thereby, we continue to diminish our profession, our selves, and our patients. I believe we should find a way to insist such performance, NOT be inappropriately labeled a 'chiropractic' manuever. Call it what it is.....unskilled assault by the untrained on the unwitting victim who has at least a modicum of confidence in such a proposal, that has been in fact demonstrated by countless millions of adjustments performed by licensed and trained chiropractors, at great cost, effort and opposition by those very enclaves which, according to the article recently posted by Dr. Simpson, are poorly trained MDs, DOs or lay people. Eliminating this confusion, at the least, would do wonders for the professionl..... But alas, this effort will have as much effect as the 'US Postal Chiropractic Stamp' movement of so many decades past.... J.
