I always figured the Palmer grads just used that term to highlight their school ... never occurred to me it was a separate technique .... guess I've been adjusted by too many Palmer grads to appreciate any difference from any other school/center.

We have been queried by people who have been told to “only seek a Palmer grad. Or only see a Palmer practitioner”.I used to tell them that I’m very sorry, I’m not a Palmer grad. but I am trying to get over the shame.Then I got adjusted by a bunch of Palmer grads and found that they are as varied in skill as everyone else. (And probably wasted the money getting a large “P” with the lightning bolt through it tattooed on their upper arm.)Later I told prospective pts. that I was taught by Palmer Professors (and know the secret passwords and handshakes).Now I just tell them that I practice the Palmer method...they come in, get adjusted, I am their new hero.I am going to start telling them that my middle name is Palmer after my uncle, DD.( E. I'm surprised that Palmer grads come out of school so insecure! They must be

instructed by professors from the medical schools. They seem to be very good

at brainwashing the new meds that they are better than everyone else,

especially chiropractors. It sounds like they've infiltrated Palmer and are

using their strategies even within the chiropractic profession. Very sad

state of affairs. We should look into that!

I use a variation of the " Gough technique " which I call the " Gough Figure

technique " . I tell patients that they need a ton of care to overcome their

injuries pile upon years of other injuries, postural strain, stress, etc.

they tell me their insurance only covers 16 visits per year and I tell them

Gough Figure!

Instead of " Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah "

We prefer to use the declaration of " Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! "

For particularly stubborn cases we add an assisting

" Woop! Woop! Woop! Woop! "

This is the kind of erudite clinical discussion which makes this listserve

so valuable.

I have a classmate from WSCC that put in his yellow pages add (in another

state)in bold letters " using the Palmer method " I just figured he was

superman (and independently wealthy) and attended 2 schools at the sme

time!!!

I may offend the WSCC grads but I would rather go to a doc that was trained in the "Palmer package" than those from the college here (for a great adjustment). Not to bad mouth the school because I did not attend it and cannot speak from the educational experience point, however I have been adjusted by 12 different WSCC alum's, and went to the college to be adjusted by the staff and students, and never received a great adjustment!! I have found grads of other schools, specifically those from Palmer, to never let me down. I think advertising this to patients that are familiar with, or have been adjusted by Palmer graduates, helps them to find a doctor that will adjust them similar to their last DC.

For the most part yes. And my associate doc who just graduated from WSCC says that it is not taught in the school. It was part of the core curriculum in our school, and I use it every day.

I graduated from Logan. I am not trying to bad mouth WSCC, I am trying to shed lite on the difference in education and the lack of technique that seems to be missing from the curriculum. On the other hand I have been amazed and impressed with the diagnosis and management skills from WSCC grads. This list serve proves that. This has been MY experience after practicing in three different states, and being adjusted by dozens of different docs from different schools over the last 10 years.

I was trying to get the point across that Palmer package identifies with patients. Gonstead is a bit of a rougher style of adjustment, and if someone that was adjusted with a doc that states it was a Palmer package adjustment, then they will be able to identify another doc if they moved, or need to change doctors.

I would love to get adjusted by a WSCC grad that proves me wrong. Any takers?

All kidding aside, it used to bother me that my office has been queried by people who have been told to “only seek a Palmer grad. Or only see a Palmer practitioner”. What kind of collegial professionalism is that?

This discussion has been silly in some ways but informative in others. Kind of like a magazine where you read some articles and pass over others.

I can now assert to patients that there is no such technique as the Palmer method but that Palmer college grads. are simply proud of their school.

They should come right in for a CHIROPRACTIC adjustment and get healthy!

Doc, Your ON,, I would be glad to check you and deliver a chiropractic correction to your spine or extremities, Or do an EKG, lab work or anything that you need to check the status of your body. 32 yrs ago I traveled the whole USA and AU teaching chiropractic technique for ten years. I never saw that any one group of grads from a certain school stood out. I now intern through the school program of WSCC a student per quarter and find them to be excellent adjusters for their time in the profession. Address is: 7215 SE 13th AVE, Portland, Or (Sellwood). Come over the sellwood bridge and turn left on 13th and you will find my building overlooking OAKS BOTTOM. My office is 503-238-7025, and my cell is 503-358-7953. I am seeing patients Sunday at 8:00 a.m. the 30th of July and your welcome to get checked and adjusted if you need it, if that helps you out with time and your opinion.

Re: Beware the Palmer Method!

I graduated from Logan. I am not trying to bad mouth WSCC, I am trying to shed lite on the difference in education and the lack of technique that seems to be missing from the curriculum. On the other hand I have been amazed and impressed with the diagnosis and management skills from WSCC grads. This list serve proves that. This has been MY experience after practicing in three different states, and being adjusted by dozens of different docs from different schools over the last 10 years.

I was trying to get the point across that Palmer package identifies with patients. Gonstead is a bit of a rougher style of adjustment, and if someone that was adjusted with a doc that states it was a Palmer package adjustment, then they will be able to identify another doc if they moved, or need to change doctors.

I would love to get adjusted by a WSCC grad that proves me wrong. Any takers?
