Guest guest
Hey guys, please feel free to post pictures of your display ideas so as to get a better visual if you like to. Just a suggestion. My favorite is L shape where I can be behind the table. I like little shelves and risers and such for lifting. But there is a perpetual ongoing search for perfect display peices. I have also found that multi tier serving thingies add interest. See I dont know how to describe this multitier thingy without posting a picture LOL. I also have this tall think xmas tree that I take to most of my fall/xmas shows to hang things on too. My latest show, because of space wize, I had to do paralel tables with me sitting in the back and it was the strangest feeling. Did not like that at all. Guest guest
Speaking of show displays, Shaye, did you get your space assignment for the RMSC show yet? Let me know where you are----I'm at #129 in the Bausch building where we were last year. Still on the first floor, but it looks like the museum has a new layout with the permanent displays they put in this year. Guest guest
, I worked with Gail last week and we talked about the show some. They have put me in the Eisenhart Lobby this year. Space 301 and she says its right near the front door. I thinks he told me that they are not opening up the balcony where I was last year. Also they didnt invite back SEVERAL vendors based on their selling purchased stuf. They also refused someone else wanting to bring in soap because apparently it was for resale. All the better for us huh? LOL Anyways I cant wait to get a map and see what is where. She also said that eventually they want to move that Mammoth down on that floor too. I cant pictur the changes so it will be interesting. I cant wait to see you again there! I hope I will get a chance to come over and walk around. Guest guest
Hey Leigh! I don't do shows anymore, but wanted to add my observations. I think your set-up will largely depend on what type of show you are doing, where it is, what the customers are like. When I did shows, there was one high school I did that I was on a corner. That show I did an L-shaped display. It was a 10x6 space and lots of space wasn't used due to the shape. I put my tables on the L, and also had a 3 shelf wire-type floor stand I used. On the tables I used two different kinds of wood shelves to add height. The reason I " wasted " all the space, people had to walk around the corner so they would be walking close to my tables and products. This show was one of my best. I found that some shows people would walk right by if it was a u-shaped display. They were intimidated if they had to " walk into " the display. I know for me I sometimes feel " trapped " in u-shaped displays because the crafter will try to " convince " you to buy their products. LOL! Carol has an awesome display using a variety of things to show off her products. Shaye's booth at the emporium is also very creative using unique items. Good luck to you! " I think i know what you mean, are you talking about those like cookie/candy servers??? usually sterling silver or something. If thats what you mean i have been thinking of taking one to shows to display some of my items on. Whats nice is most of them can either be two tiers or three and they come apart completly. Don't you just love finding things that come apart. I found a hat rack at a garage sale that came apart complelty. The legs come off and it seperates in the center, just perfect fit for my small trunk. At my last craft sale I also saw a lady who had gotten a nice 3 tier basket thing from Joanns in the springtime. It was sold as some garden design thing but we both felt it worked great for her display. I would love to get my hands on one but it didnt come apart which means i would have no room in my car for it. However I just might be able to creativly make something similar. I do agree, pictures would be great. Of course i myself dont have any.
Guest guest
oooooo yes that is good poin about the mirrors. Mirrors are a great way to lighten up an area. I use mirrors when the power goes out. I will place a candle in front of what ever mirrors i can find. The mirrors will reflect the light and shoot it out all over the place. The light colors is good too. Anything reflextive. See if any fabric stores have any sort of light colored metalic fabric. That could help. Think of a nice clear winter night with the moon reflecting off the snow. Remember how it brightens up the whole outside. One of my favorite things about winter. Along with the mirror idea. At the hardware stores as well as Walmart (which i beleive is cheeper) you can get a small box of mirrored tiles. you could take them and place them on your tables underneath your items in a nice display. You know sort of like they do at weddings and other fancy events. Oooo ooo oo even better. you can also get some small strings of battery operated xmas lights. how pretty it would be if you get some clear of a single color light set and place them over the mirrors around your items. Candles would work too but alot of places don't let you light candles soo this is a great alternative. Great all this thinking got me into rethinking my own set up. alrighty im off to look at battery operated lights and mirrors now.

Guest guest
Wooops! sorry didnt mean to send a blank message LOL. I know what you mean with the silver server thing and its similar to that. I'll find a picture and post what Im talking about. The servers are great too! I have a wooden one that comes apart and I can do one two or all three layers depending on what I need. I love it a lot for displaying like the soapdishes, nailbrushes and pumice stones Shaye
