We love sushi! I hope that it is okay, because I have been counting

it for BFL. I would eat it weekly, if we could afford it! DH and I

have been going for years, now we take the kids. My 3yo likes tuna

rolls and the baby likes rice.

:)

The rice in sushi is normally glutinous white rice which means it is not

acceptable in terms of BFL standards. I'd save it for a free day. :)

I love sushi, too. I could eat it every day, but it is a tad carb

heavy. 4 oz. of sushi (about 4 average size pieces made with tuna,

salmon or crab) contains approx. 160 calories, 1 gram of fat, 32

grams of carbs and 6 grams of protein. To make a meal out of it, I

usually add a side of sashimi to boost the protein without adding any

more carbs.

Funny how I keep coming back to the fact that my appetite has totally

changed since starting BFL. When DH and I would have sushi, I would

have: an order of tuna rolls (6 small pcs total), 1/2 veggie tempura

appetizer, side salad, 2 pcs of tuna sashimi, and about 1/3 of an

order of yaki udon (udon noodles with a sauce and steamed veggies).

Now I am totally full with tuna rolls, 2pc of sashimi, and a salad.

Full like if I ate another bite I would be uncomfortable.

We are sushi freaks and we make it, but to get the

rice sticky you put sugar in it mixed with rice

vinegar, so I don't eat it on regular days because I

know there is sugar in it. But there are worse things

to eat. Some of the places mix mayo in the rice, but

the sugar is worse anyway.

sashimi would be good, but the rice/sashimi rolls are usually out of

proportion - too many carbs - i like my sushi on free days
