Guest guest
That is something I was wondering about too. I tried on a silk blouse Saturday in the size I normally wear and the arms were too tight. Then my husband told me he thought my arms were bigger. That really got the fear factor going. I already had great bicep definition, it is the triceps that need work. And I want that flab gone. I know women can't BULK up but I'm scared my arms are gonna be huge and I won't be able to wear some of my blouses. Noelle help I'm expanding Help! Gaining muscle has never been a problem for me and since I used to swim butterfly and back competitively I have a lot of shoulder and back muscle screaming back to life under the fat. Don't get me wrong the feeling of power and strength is wonderful but I am thinking I should maybe modify the eating, cut more carbs. Long term I know I'll lose the fat but short term I'm going to have to buy bigger bras to fit around my expanding chest and go to tank tops for my shoulders and arms. Hey how do you buff ladies find clothes to fit those great muscles?
Guest guest
What week are you in? How much fat do you need to loose? Many women get freaked about some muscle gain in the first four weeks, because the surface fat is not decreesing, so they feel like parts of their bodies are getting bigger. Most often what is happening is that, as you said, the muscle is growing on arms or legs, and fat is burning from areas that either don't show (around the organs, actually in the muscles) or parts of your body that you have not noticed (perhaps your arms are a little bigger, but your thighs are a little smaller). If you are eating correctly this will even out. Do you write down what you eat every day? If so, look it over to be absolutely sure that you are not eating too much and that your carb choices are the best they can be. Also, take a look at your cardio. Are you realy hitting your 10s? Minute 19 should feel like the longest minute of your life, like it will never end, and you'll never be able to keep going. If your food is in line, rather than cutting down on nutrition I'd suggest adding one more cardio day a week. Or, you could just be patient, because obviously the program is working for you, and soon that extra muscle is going to pay off in higher metabolic rates, which will burn the fat faster. We are so used to 'weight loss programs', that the way this 'fitness program' works on our bodies is new and surprising. If you have to, buy a new bra, but I would not risk that beautiful new muscle you are building. Nothing is sexier than a beautifully muscled back. Guest guest
I'm at the end of week three. I have lost one pound and 1/2 an inch from my waist. Which, I think is pretty good. At least I have seen something. I'm eating clean. Yesterday was the best day of all, I really hit my menu on the head and am going to try to do every day like yesterday. I'm glad you mentioned that about the cardio, because I was thinking about adding an extra one in. I noticed that when I do UBW my heart rate is not as high as when I do LB. I feel like maybe I should add a mini cardio on UBW days just to get my heart rate up a little. Today, when working my triceps, I definitely hit my 10's. I was trembling on the lying dumbbell ext's and could hardly do the last set. What do you think about adding the mini cardio? Noelle Re: help I'm expanding What week are you in? Guest guest
Boy, you are only on week three, and you have already lost an inch from your waist? I really want to tell you not to change anything. You can't dictate where the fat comes off of, apparently for you it is coming off the waist first. The fat is comming off, and in time (probably a really short time) it will start to go from your arms as well. I really wouldn't munky with a system that is working, were I you. If you feel like you really HAVE to add something, I'd say an extra cardio on your free day would be the least harmful. It sounds like you are used to monitoring everything very carefully, which works for some people, but most can't keep it up. Once the close monitoring slips feelings of failure creep in. Could lead to back-sliding. The goal of this program is for it all to become a natural part of your life. You don't stress over how you brush your teeth, do you? Then don't stress about this. I'm sure others will have differing opinions, but I'll bet that must of us will encourage you to stick with what you are doing, with out change. It is working, why change it? Guest guest
Thanks, I'll take your advice and maybe just do a cardio on a free day when I feel like it. It does seem to be going really well and someone said yesterday, I think it was Serenity that they don't look at this as just 12 weeks, it's a way of life. That is how I am approaching it too. Guest guest
Colleen: Isn't it GREAT when you can fit into something you couldn't a week ago. I have an Ann silk dress in a size 4 that I bought to wear to my wedding rehearsal supper last year. This was a time when I was abusing laxatives, taking diet pills and purging in order to maintain my weight to wear my wedding dress. Anyway, my goal is to wear that dress w/out a girdle or killing myself. I try it on every couple of weeks. I know I'm going to get back in it one of these days! Noelle Re: help I'm expanding > Help! Guest guest
Hi I am experiencing the same problem. Ever since I started doing ab work the right way I have build up a lot of muscle around my waist and my skirts and pants are tighter around the waist than they used to be. My waist looks " thicker " but when i squeeze my side with my hands it feels hard, not soft like fat is. I have cut down on the amount of ab work I am doing to hopefully " slim down " and am no longer doing weighted ab exercises. I find it really frustrating because I am getting bigger even if I am firmer.

Guest guest
Hey Alys I am only at the end of my first week, but I have been lifting (low weight high rep, DID NOT WORK)and doing intense cardio for about 6 months, so the big difference for me is the eating plan. Of course the dumbbell exercises target the muscle groups much better than my old workout, I'm not sure how much fat I need to lose, I weigh 45lbs more than I did in my 20's when I was pretty lean, but I always maintained that weight through starvation. I am going over my eating and I think I may not have enough protein vs carbs so I am looking for lower carb options to keep the balance. But the muscle is really building up from lat-pulls when I work for that " 10 " I discovered I could lift much more than before. I think I am going to count my blessings that I am making progress and double check my diet. Thanks for reality check, I needed that, Yeta @y..., alysd38 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > What week are you in? How much fat do you need to loose? Guest guest
Hey Colleen isn't it a great feeling!!!! Finally I feel like I am getting a decent workout, I was so sure my answer was low weights high reps, but I have doubled my high points on some weights already. Are you doing less for your quads? Mine are already big from that pesky butterfly(10 years of fly and 14 of back), I have my kids in TaeKwonDo working all their muscle groups so they don't get uneven bodies. My legs are still a little sore but today I got back to my stair climbing for cardio so I am almost recovered, did yours recover quickly from that LBWO?- > > Hey, me too!! Guest guest
....... My legs are still a little sore but today I got back > to my stair climbing for cardio so I am almost recovered, did yours > recover quickly from that LBWO?- > > > I almost spit my water out reading that...QUICKLY??? Oh my gosh, I'm still recovering!!! And I only used 5, 8 and 10 lb dumbbells! The low weight, high rep workouts did at lesat get me back into working out. I took about 2 years off due to carpal tunnel and my own personal depression and when I started again I could barely do anything with 3 lb weights! But overall, it didn't do much for building muscle or sculpting. I work my quads the same because I actually like the musclar look. I know some people don't prefer it, but it is my " ideal " look if I could pick one. Colleen PS I don't think I could do stairclimbing yet! I did an interval training step tape and still felt it when I did squats during the warmup!
Guest guest
I guess we are starting from different places, I've been using 15lb dumbells for my LBWO, didn't seem heavy when I started but I think they gained as I went. Not sure if I should drop back down next LWBO don't want another day of walking like enstein and crying on the stairs. I guess we learn as we go. My main goal is to drop my extra fat the muscles are just a bonus at this point. Although I would like to get back to my college form when I used to bench press my weight, of course I was 20 years younger and 45lbs lighter, some day, Yeta--- <colleen_meacham@h...> wrote: > > > > > I almost spit my water out reading that...QUICKLY??? Guest guest
Muscular legs really are awesome. Even if they're big, the goal is for them not to jiggle. My father in law used to say " it has to be jello 'cause jam don't shake like that " when referring to thigh fat deposits. No one should despair large thighs if they are muscular.
