How much honey should I add to a 7 pound batch? 2. Does the honey smell come though if I dont scent it? 3. Does it tend to overheat being there is honey in it? Any precautions? I am soooooo tired...We were supposed to go out early today so I could make some more soaps and make up a pan of lasagne for the picnic...we got waylaid and didn't even leave the house until nearly 2! Then, we had to " pick up " a tv and a stand to put it on for my FIL. Pick UP!!!!! INDEED!!!! Argh! we went to Circuit City...nada. Mark sent me into K mart to see if THEY had anything...nada. We hadn't had lunch, so everyone was ANTSY, but as we passed Target, I told Mark maybe THEY would have something! By golly, they had both a TV and we bought a small computer desk that was PERFECT in size for a 20 " TV. Knocked that one off the list! Then, we went to the home to deliver the goods. Had to put the desk together, and FIL is as happy as can be! Phew... So, I am having fun doing this M & P! I never played too much with M & P, as I learned with CP and well...I have another Scot in the mold now, but want to have about 20 total. I will try to get a pic of the lot of them...they are VERRA colorful! About the honey...it is " said " approximately 1 tablespoon per pound of oils, BUT...if you are making a big batch of 7 pounds, I wouldn't put in 7 tablespoons!!!! Not ME! Because, if that puppy heats up, you will get a big ole' hole right in the center where it " volcanoes " up!!!!! When I make soap with honey, I try NOT to insulate it really well, as it gets toooooooooo hot. Let's see.... oh, I began buying the honey powder...I bought some packets from Wegman's (EXPENSIVE) but I think it doesn't heat up like the liquid honey. Well, at least it wasnt as hot today. Dont you just love Target??? Thanks for the hints on the honey. I dint think about the honey powder! Does it leave a good honey smell without adding any fo too? I do have some GM powder too so thats a good idea too. I suppose if it leaves a hole in the middle I may have to *gasp* rebatch. Ugh I wont think about that right now LOL. Say, you dont happen to know of anyplace in town I can get some raw honey? hmmm. Anyways... I'll prolly be too busy packing up stuf to think about that. I'll be soo glad when this is done. But I saw this new little soap shop a block away from nana's that I wanted to check it out cuz last time we were there they were closed for Labor dayweekend. I was like you too, I learned with CP but once I played with MP, and got instant gratification, I thought why not do both. I dont think I could do some of the thing's I've done with CP. I cant wait to see the scotty soaps!!! You should paint lines on the background to look like plaid! I know there is no time. LOL. They are gonna be a hit with your picnic!!!! Well, I make one soap that is cool...called Carrot Calendula Honey Bar..I use honey, ground calendula petals, three carrots, cooked and pureed in the blender (yes, always three carrots...medium sized...how is THAT for specific?) and GM. When this soap is done, it has a very nice " sweet " scent. I don't know if it is the carrots or honey or calendula...but it is nice. I made this for allergy people who cannot tolerate scents and found out it is MY favorite!!! I am tired. And tired of feeling like I am stuck in a revolving DOOR! One of these days, life has to slow down some...doesn't it? I am looking forward to the picnic, but would have liked it more if we were going to take the camper. Mark said let's just go for the day, and I am bummed by that. I would love to just stay away a couple of days. Ah well... Hopefully, we will get some good pix of all those ies...there will be a LOT there!!!! About the soaps..the most CREATIVE, I guess, would be the ones with little pink soaps (made from Wilton heart candy molds) in transparent bars behind either a Wheaton (blonde) or black ie head in the mold I made! Boy, oh boy...if these soaps sell at the picnic, I am ordring a GALLON of oomoo before NEXT weekend!!!!! MAking these soaps one at a time is a PAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!
