Since we did't add any kind of preservative, will it turn rancid at room temp? Can it safely be mailed this time of year or do I need to wait for cooler weather??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ , Didn't Bill add vitamin E? You can easily add it. It depends upon how long you want to keep it. I'd put it in a double-walled jar. I've never tried mailing it in warm weather, but I've heard that it can be a problem. Why would one add cornstarch? The first go round ended up thickening after potting....So... I added more oil and beat it again (a week or so ago) and it was beautiful THEN... but by the next day had stiffened up again. It's still soft today after adding more oil yesterday....and beating....and beating....and beating... LOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hmm, what were your proportions? I couldn't remember whether anyone on the list had mentioned the possibility of adding cornstarch or not. I add a little at the end to make it less greasy. It's nice! Guest guest
AHHH.... to make it less greasy! That makes sense! If it was mentioned, I missed that post. Well, this batch is all sealed in new jars and shrink wrap bands... so maybe the next batch I'll try that! I only used about 1/2 pound of butter, so still have another 1/2 left to do more experimenting with. Thanks again, Beth!
