Guest guest
Dear Vern and Oregon Doctors; As you know both Dr. Saboe and I appeared before MLAC's care provider subcommittee on Friday 14 Th. This meeting was a review of the proposed survey by MLAC that is being prepared by the Department of Business Services. Dr. Saboe reviewed the Oregon Chiropractic Association Survey ODOC provided another study with an oral summary. Public comments followed. MLAC is beginning to understand that the problem is not about Chiropractic but about patients not receiving treatment under a comp claim because they are afraid to file a claim. This is the main issue that MLAC has to understand. Patients will come to our offices or their medical provider with an on the job injury and will not file a comp claim because they are afraid of being fired. This is the main issue, it is my opinion that 2000 claims per month in our state are filed under med. pay instead of worker comp. It is my opinion that the MLAC survey will reflect this opinion with our help. This is the area that ODOC's legislative team have been working on for some time. It would be great if Chiropractic could receive full attending status, but in all reality that may not occur at this time. 24 and 90 is practical and a great start for future sessions after all we have been out of the of the main stream for 17 years. The concept is not about us it is about the patients we serve and what is cost effect for our state. If we prove we can do the job than in 4 or 5 years full attending will be given to us. Look, you have two very good legislative teams working for you. I have never seen anything like this before in this state. But we cannot do it alone, your help is needed in the form of positive thinking, money and working with your local legislator. If its going to be it is up to all of us not just a few in CAO and ODOC.
