Guest guest
OK, guys. I need some input here. I did the American Heart Run & Walk this year for my husband's cousin's team. If none of you have ever done it, it's a walk or run done in teams and you get donations from people to raise money for the Heart Association. Anyway, the team leader emailed me yesterday with a proposition. She wanted to know if it was possible for me to do heart shaped soaps as a fundraiser for the team. She wants me to be able to make a profit but also the team to make money from the sales for next year's Run & Walk. They can raise money throughout the year for the next year's event. Have any of you ever done anything like this and are there any legal reasons why I COULDN'T do this? What are your opinions as to the best way to handle this? Would it be better to price the bars the way I normally do and offer them a % of the sales (like 25%) or some other way? Another question, whatever funds the team ends up with, can I claim it as " donations " for the business at year-end for taxes? Any opinions or help here would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
I would certainly let the Chemistry Store know about the weight discrepancy. I've ordered from them numerous times & have always been happy with their products & service. I've never noticed an issue with the weight being wrong though. Other than that, I'm not sure what you can do. Let us know what you find out though. Thanks! Guest guest
Some of the shopping carts will estimate the shipping by the number of items, rather than actual weight. I would call them and complain and see what happens, although the time to do that is before you finalize your order, really. Hopefully, they will refund you something. Guest guest
Hi Colleen I just emailed them and questioned it. We'll see what happens. The reason I purchased from them was due to a problem I had with 4 oz bottles at SKS in New York. I had purchased the 4 oz bottles from them in the Fall & they include the sprayers with their bottles - you don't have to order sprayers separately. BUT the sprayers are 1/4 " from the bottom of the bottles!! I know my customers would be complaining (as I would be as a customer) that they can't get a lot of the product thru the sprayer near the end. I complained to SKS at the time (over the phone) and the guy sent me replacement sprayers (free of chg.) that were longer but I would have to trim. I have no problem with trimming them whatsoever. Well, I was running out of bottles right before Christmas and needed some A.S.A.P. so I reordered from them again. SAME PROBLEM. I called again and they said that's how they come from the manufacturer and if I wanted longer ones I would have to order them separately on top of the price of the bottles that come with the short sprayers. When I looked at the website the LEAST qty. I could order was 144 sprayers!! Needless to say I won't be ordering from SKS anymore. So I had to hunt elsewhere. The Chemistry Store had good prices and you order sprayers separately and they told the length of them on the site. So I ordered bottles & sprayers plus extra sprayers to replace the short ones on the SKS bottles. But now with the price of the shipping plus they charge $3.50 handling fee on every order I don't think I'm ahead of the game here. I just can't win!!!
