Guest guest
I'm new to the list (I have a 10-year-old son, live in Massachusetts, co-chair of our Special Education PAC), glad to see that after I've only been on for a week, one of the subjects I'm interested in - anti-wandering technology - is being addressed. Thanks for the info. on IonKids. This is ironic: after a terrifying experience, I did what I thought was a pretty thorough web search. Based only on what I saw online (no phone calls), I wasn't super impressed with anything, and the most promising-looking product was somethingl ike $800. It seemed like a lot of money considering that I wasn't impressed with the web site and so my confidence level was low. Then I finally got around to looking for a chat group, and what did I find when I got onto the website for this group, but an ad for Ion-Kids. Although I was baffled as to why I never found it when I searched, I was very impressed with the product and the website didn't give me the creeps. According to the website, the product can even be bought at Target.com; that made me feel like it had been in my own backyard the whole time. Karla, would you be so kind as to answer a few questions? Does it work well " through " walls, rocks, etc.? Is it easy to put the bracelet on and take it off? Is it battery-only, or can it be charged in an outlet? Can the sound type and volume of the alarm be controlled? OK, it the bracelet isn't supposed to get wet, but if the child goes into water, does the wrecking of the bracelet sound the alarm? How long have you had it? If one joins the " Down syndrome community, " what happens besides the discount? Now that I'm officially " on, " a few more messages will follow....
