Guest guest
Hi Everybody, How do you all melt your soap when rebatching? I would like to get it completely smooth and liquid-ish to pour into molds. I have tried many recipes and have melted it both in a double boiler and in the microwave, but end up with a sort of cooked oatmeal texture. I read directions that say " pour, " but if I tipped over my bowl, it would " glug glug " and " plop plop, " but not actually pour. Does anybody get there rebatch soap to pour like cold process soap? Thanks for any ideas, hints, recipes. ¸..·´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- Sage -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*
Guest guest
No rebatching and hp both golp in the mold and don't go into cavity molds as well as cp which does pour. Nothing you can do about it that is the type of process it is. Chris Re: Re:rebatching Hi Everybody, How do you all melt your soap when rebatching? Guest guest
Mine never " pours " . But the best I've gotten is by using an old crockpot and letting it sit there for quite some time on low, stirring and maybe adding liquid frequently. Guest guest
<<How do you all melt your soap when rebatching? I have tried many recipes and have melted it both in a double boiler and in the microwave, but end up with a sort of cooked oatmeal texture.>> Well, I just now rebatched an OM & H that I made last night that separated upon cutting this morning (jagged craters in the center oozing clear liquid, from the honey??), so I shredded it and started to use the double-boiler. But I'm such an impatient thing, especially this morning, plus I think the DB method dries it out so it gets clumpy. After tapping my foot impatiently for a few minutes, I threw the shreds in a freezer ziploc and put it in the MW for 2 minutes at 40% power (since my previous attempts at 100% failed miserably, lol). Wow! It melted smoothly and completely. I squished it all to one corner, snipped the corner off, and it *poured* like thick CP! I smoothed the top with a spatula, thumped it to settle, and now it's hardening... all in less than 10 minutes, mostly spent grating with a cheese grater, lol. True, maybe it's so smooth and pourable because it's very fresh soap... will have to try it with older soap to see if it still is pourable. But the lower power level seems to be a key... Guest guest
This is my favorite way of rebatching if I have to rebatch, which I try to avoid if I can. But you know, sometimes you just have to do it. LOL. Shaye Re: NaL Update >Tomorrow I'll try rebatching (yuck!) the scraps. Guess what! Not yuck!! I took the scraps, uglies etc. from each fragrance and ran them through the Salad Shooter. They were firm but not rock hard and easily shot out of the Shooter as soap noodles. These noodles were plopped into the microwave AS IS for 1 minute per 4 oz. I did not add any liquid and watched each batch very carefully as the melting soap quickly rose up if overheated. A quick stir and the soap was ready to ALMOST pour into molds. Couple of raps on the floor and that was it. There must be a trick to this.
