Guest guest
Isaac's school called at 8:40 this morning to ask me to come pick him up because they couldn't get a substitute aide. They tried calling 3 different people and weren't successful. The secretary showed me the list of subs and had an excuse for most of them like, " this one is hard to catch " " this one lives 10 miles away " " this one usually is at a different school " and on and on. The kindergarten teacher thought perhaps she could just have a different high schooler come in each hour and take a turn with him......I said that would be too disruptive and he would spend the first half of each of those hours showing off and entertaining the high schooler. I asked what they wanted me to do and they asked if I could stay with him for the day and I replied I could not. So I took him home, but as I was signing him out I did ask if this was an excused absence or an unexcused absence. The secretary replied quietly that it was excused. They asked me to generate a list of people I thought he'd get along with as a sub. I think he'd get along with anyone for a day or two....is this my job or is the school being lazy here? There are 15 children in his class. Jill mom to Isaac (6.5, DS, repeat kindergartener)
