Dear Colleagues,

Been asked to post the results of the OBCE meeting last Thursday March 15 relative to the "Clinical Justification Rule" vs. Drs. Boothby & Cafferty's proposed "Clinical Rational Rule" changes etc.

The proposal from Drs. Boothby and Cafferty died due to lack of a motion.

The Board subsequent voted 5 yes, 1 no to refer the current Clinical Justification Rule back to the Administrative Rules Advisory Committee for further discussion and possible revisions.

As per ODOC's and the CAO's mailers it is my understanding based on a March 14 e-mail from ODOC member Schmidt that they received 77 responses to their survey of roughly 1200 doctors statewide. As of that posting 63 were in favor of the CR rule as proposed by Drs. Boothby and Cafferty and 14 in favor of the current CJ rule....these numbers clearly could have change since the 14th... It was stated by ODOC member Cafferty at the March 16th OBCE meeting that (and I'm going by memory here) 83% of the profession favored the CR rule over the CJ rule....and of course that would be 83% of 77 respondents doctors.

Alternatively the OBCE received approx (I don't have the exact final number the OBCE will be getting that to me) 350 support mailers for the CJ rule and approx. 56 of those were from WSCC students not doctors in the field.

Lastly if you have not sent in your CAO mailer please do so ASAP as it is still important though the OBCE meeting is over...we still need to know your opinion...
