Guest guest
Logged onto Aetna's website and registered for a physician username and password. (I thought we could check patient eligibility via the internet instead of going to phone menu hell.) Got my username and password (after a 10 day waiting period, no kidding) and logged on. The patient eligibility area asks for a Provider ID which you can establish and it becomes permanent for life. It doesn't say whether it is just with Aetna of somehow part of HIPPA etc. Not wishing to establish a provider ID right away, I attempted to inquire about the patient's eligibility without my ID. What do you know but they didn't include chiropractic care as part of the 150 choices. Dang. I know I'm listed as a provider at Aetna somewhere. Anyone know anything about this Provider ID? If you are FOR nationalized health care, then you are FOR entanglements like this. It is beyond insane but it saves money because people die while trying to wait for an answer on the phone. For fun on a Saturday nite, go to aetna.com and look into benefits and click on eligibility Inquiry. ( E. Abrahamson, D.C.)
