Guest guest
adding that the beginning of the year is incredibly difficult and to expect that much for 1st and 2nd days of school is near impossible. *********************************************************************** That's funny. I was thinking the same thing about my son. Somehow, this school is managing to send angry notes about him not having a water bottle, taping pencils, not doing homework and all the negative behavior, but they aren't telling me that the water bottle that I sent to leave in his P.E. locker got misplaced. They aren't telling me WHAT his homework is. They aren't telling me what GOOD things he is doing. Oh, and they are telling me that he is failing because he is not working at grade level. I think they are expecting a bit too much of him AND me the first couple of weeks of school. I'm willing to cut some slack with them, but it has to go both ways. " Answer " Fine " As you see he did not answer what but how were you today. We first practice by having the teachers send home a note with a question for me to ask and then they supply the answer in his log. When I ask him WHAT I can help teach him to answer that question by knowing the answer. Now with them telling me highlights of his day. I can ask and he can answer more readily. Jean LOL I know oh so well what you are talking about! My conversation with Nick about school goes like this: Me: Nick, how was school? Nick: I Good. Me: Nick, what did you learn new today? Nick: I all good, no sads. Me: Nick, did you eat your salad? Nick: I dunno. I good. Me: Nick, what did you do today? Nick: M & M game, kick ball, Logan Bower. Me, you best friends. I go play now? Now I know he didn't play on the computer all day. It's raining so he didn't play kick ball. Since I have a lunch menu I can figure out what was offered but not what was eaten -- not a major deal as I figure he'll eat a good dinner if he doesn't eat a good lunch. Now his 5 year old brother gives me detailed reports of his day. Including pointing out things I forgot or didn't do, followed by a Mom, You didn't know. Guest guest
I don't know how is doing (just got home and haven't read the cx book yet). I know the teahcer will have her hands full in setting a routine for him during the next several days. We did meet for lunch last week - she seems nice and she has experience. My oldest is teaching now - she has no idea who her special ed students are. She found out today that two in her last period were. The special ed teacher offered to look at her class list tomorrow and tell her who is (but where is their IEP??). They still have not registered as teaching - she has signed no paperwork - nothing. She has a small budget for xeroxing - yet they do not have enough books for all the students and she has to make copies. She's frustrated...I'm laughing thinking, this is life honey, welcome to it! LOL!!!!!!!!!
