Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, I've had a few docs call thinking it was to late to send in their surveys.....those who are like minded...no it's not to late but I need you to fax your completed survey at this point to.. 541-928-2742 Approx. 280 colleagues have send in their surveys all of which validate that our workers are being funneled into the Occ Med Centers, to the Company Doc, and being told they can't see a chiropractor. Colleagues are also having trouble getting on the closed panels etc., etc. I will post the results of the study to the list serve and we will have a article in the CAO journal.....we are binding the results of the study for me to present to the Management-Labor Advisory Committee's Provider Groups Sub-Committee....and the CAO is drafting legislation to address these problems....THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO SENT IN YOUR SURVEYS! Guest guest
Vern, excuse my ignorance here, but in addition to this is there any work being done as far as changing the absolute rediculous, unfair and discriminatory 12 visit or 30 day nonsense? Guest guest
Hi Dr. Medlin, Yes. Last session after three years of work with WSCC and officials at OHSU and with Professor now State Representative Mitch Greenlick we introduced House Bill 2588. The Chiropractic Association of Oregon's Bill which called for a first in the nation prospective randomized cost comparison study comparing the cost of chiropractic management to standard medical treatment of common NMS injuries. We had 43 legislators as sponsors and the three Co-Chief Sponsors just happened to be the Chair of the Health Committee Rep. Dalto ®, Co-Chair Carolyn Tomei (D), and Rep. Jeff Kropf ® all chiropractic patients. The bill had huge and I mean huge bipartisan support and was passed out of the legislature only to be vetoed by the Governor. However the Governor because of the CAO's HB-2588 Chart the Management-Labor Advisory Committee to look at expanding chiropractic services. The Dept. of Consumer and Business Affairs is now conducting an in-house retrospective study, review of the scientific literature, going to conduct injured worker and employer interviews etc. To look at the feasibility of expanding chiropractic and other provider groups within Work Comp. The Chiropractic Association of Oregon is currently drafting legislation relative to expanding chiropractic services with the primary and final goal of returning full attending status to DCs within the Workers' Comp System. In fact I just again yesterday met with Legislative Council on our proposed drafts.... Thanks for the interest, Vern Saboe CAO Lobbyist Workers' Compensation Survey - Fax it!
