Guest guest
I say trust your instincts! I personally would not have shared with her, but that's just me. I've had lots of people ask me at craft shows who my suppliers were. These ranged from other crafters to new & experienced soapers. I usually just either give them a couple of names of suppliers (I may never have used them before), or I give them such a long list that they can't remember them anyway. LOL! Like you, most of us have done the research and don't want to share. The other person has to remember that you are in business & if you give away your suppliers, no one will be buying from you anymore. Of course, these are just my opinions, so take them for what they are worth. I don't expect any of you to give up supplier names if you're not comfortable with that. So I think you were right not to tell. Colleen Country Meadow Creations http://www.countrymeadowcreations.com

Guest guest
Shaye, vendors and businesses are public, " but " it took you time to find those places, try their products, and your out of pocket dollars. I'm sure, you've also had the experience of not so good quality purchases, as we all have too (((warm smiles))). In some ways, she may be trying to dupe your ideas by reason of wanting your sources information, which is in a whole different ball park. For this reason, I would have just answered a vague, " I use so many different places, off hand I can't remember. Try a search, and go from there " . Unfortunately, we have to stay ahead of the game, what can be seen can be copied, and it is. I've finally gotten to a point of acceptance in this regard, and allow this to challenge me to keep on creating ; ) Huggs, Bekka
Guest guest
Hi Shaye, If she's the mall owner I'm thinking of then 'tough tootsie's to her. You probably don't have time to do this but if it were me I'd look for another supplier that carries the same or close to the same items but at a much higher cost and give her that info. LOL H. ----- Original Message ----- << I think the real situation here and the reason I am writing this is looking for justification NOT to share with her.>>
Guest guest
Shaye I LOVE 's idea below. Oooooh, she's so sneaky.....gotta love it!! Re: Quesion/dilema on sharing suppliers. Guest guest
Shaye, I don't share suppliers of any product that I buy to resell. That's just good business..... And you're right...you did the work of finding those suppliers.... I do share where I get my soap supplies...because I use them to MAKE my product. BUT....not things that I buy to resell. I think you were right not to tell! (and thanks for getting that link up so quick for me....) Ryhanen Creekside Soaps www.creeksidesoaps.com Quesion/dilema on sharing suppliers. I have a question/dilema I wanted to throw out there about sharing suppliers. The owner of one of the craftmalls im in wants to buy my soaps wholesale as I am going to be leaving there the end of this month. She just called me and wanted me to share suppliers of where I get my nail brushes, soapdishes and other accessories that I sell alongside my products. Some of these places I have searched and searched to find good prices and such. I did not want to share with her as in the past I have gotten burned sharing too much info with the wrong person. She has been known to play little games like that that make me uneasy. Anyways she claims that she had shared wholesale info with the vendors and thought that it would not be a big deal to share with her. Althought she has let me tag along in an order, she has not necessarily shared any supplier (with me) that does me any good or that I am very interested in. Sooo I dont feel any obligation to share with her. So she said she didnt want to get them from me and will search on her own. So it was kind of an awkward and wierd conversation. Ok I guess the question is... What is your guys's opinions on sharing suppliers. You know our suppliers dont share with us much on THEIR suppliers. I think the real situation here and the reason I am writing this is looking for justification NOT to share with her. *Sigh* She tried to lay a guilt trip on me. What do you guys think about this? Thanks Shaye
Guest guest
Hi Shaye, I think you are absolutely right in not giving her that information. No, I do not share supplier info either. As you said, you've worked hard and long to find sources for you. Don't let yourself feel guilty at all :-) HTH, :-D rades@... http://www.creationsbyrades.com NEW " Altoid-type " tins What do you guys think about this? Guest guest
LOL ! I only suggested that because this lady (if it's the one I'm thinking of) has had her moments with Shaye. Don't want you to think I'm sneaky by nature. H. ----- Original Message ----- I LOVE 's idea below. Oooooh, she's so sneaky.....gotta love it!! Guest guest
Shaye, I agree with Colleen.... you did all the leg work to find your suppliers. Why share for free what has taken time to find.... we all know in business, time is money. SJL is going out of business and is SELLING their supplier list to the highest bidder. This is normal for businesses to do. Offer to sell her your list for a decent price otherwise she'll have to use her time to find what she needs. I know it sounds cold, but this also sounds " fishy " to me. Go with your gut feeling on this.... sometimes we don't listen to that voice in us and we're often sorry we didn't follow it. It's a business thing. Imagine if we could all walk in Wal-Mart and find out their suppliers.... Wal-Mart would be out of business quick. Just my 2 cents Terri
Guest guest
Shaye, I think (for my inexperienced vote) that the others have given you excellent advice. I know, just starting out, Maureen has been a godsend to me, sharing where she gets her fragrance and essential oils, and so forth. I would not expect her to divulge everything, nor would I expect anybody to, knowing that I would be an indirect competitor, particularly if it's not a friend, but a person at a location that you sell. I do see some great ideas out there, and sometimes there is only so much you can do... but I think you had every right to not divulge all your info. I see some things that people sell, and *gasp* have the amazing ability to do a google websearch on what I need... ;-) The information is out there, it's up to her to find out for herself if she truly wants to.... :-) Kirstin Re: Quesion/dilema on sharing suppliers. Guest guest
Terri and Kirsten, thanks! yep im glad I stuck to my guns and did not tell her. I met with another store this morning (consignment) and I get a really good feeling about how she runs things and she loved my stuf so it looks like a definate go. Im gonna get some stuf together and take up to her this week. I still have one more home show this weekend so its hard splitting things up in a billion different directions. Seems like when one door closes another one opens huh? Shaye -
