Weight and clothes

Hi

I am going to try and be very sensitive asking for help with this issue.

I am finding it more and more difficult to find clothes that fit, look good

and are age appropriate for Sara. She has weight issues, really right at her

belly. Sara was always skinny as a child, but ever since she went on a

steroid bout for 4 weeks she put on 20 lb., we were able to get off 8lbs but as

time has gone by she's developing into her words a " chubby " teen. She is on

Topamax which is now FDA approved for weight loss and really this drug has

helped in keeping her food portions at a healthy amount ........ so basically

she

doesn't over eat she has a typical child's activity level which I possibly

could get her to increase if she wasn't so tired after school from a day

starting at 5:30 am ................ Im hoping this summer we can get a few

pounds off with her sleeping longer in the AM.

OK now trying to be sensitive I've never had to deal with weight issues for

any of my children, or me except for maybe 10-20 vanity pounds (not to say I

might be facing issues if I keep up with my carb binges at night) I have no

idea where, how to buy clothes for Sara. I took her shopping to buy some

shorts this week and it was a disaster. In 3 different stores we failed and she

went home feeling and saying she is to fat for clothes. This shopping trip

totally brought her self esteem down and when she talked to her dad on the phone

I heard her saying she was " ugly and fat and sisters not. " I fought the tears

and then got reprimanded from hubby for not handling this better I catch

it all if any of his princess are unhappy .................. he has no sisters

so he is clueless, you cant keep females happy 24-7

ANYWAY if anyone can share with me publicly or privately on how I can shop

for Sara I would deeply appreciate it. Sara does have the cognitive ability to

know her body is different and she so wants to dress like the other Middle

Schoolers. In the winter I am able to buy jeans and hem them, same with the

long sleeve shirts but the summer clothes are harder to alter.
