I went to for the first time in 9 years and saw lots of top-notch, impeccable and dedicated DCs in Vegas this past weekend. As usual, there were a slew of excellent presentations, including OregonDC list-serv member, Ted Forcum and my former classmate, Vasquez, DC ND. The highlight presenters for me were : Rebel medico Joe Mercola, DO (www.mercola.com), Rebel economist and Rabbi Zane Pilzer www.paulzanepilzer.com (author of The Wellness Revolution, The New Health Insurance Solution, God Wants You To Be Rich et al), Drs. Loman and Lerner, DC (One Minute Wellness, Body By God), among others.......but one young guy really stood out for me. He had a message that really resonated for me......and his approach to chiropractic is a neat marriage of DD's vitalistic 'naturalism' and a -Freeman-like-grasp of topically-relevant literature (mostly from physiology and neurology field)....his name is Chestnut, DC from , Canada. He calls the VSC a "movement deficiency syndrome" and demonstrates via lots of literature how propioceptive stimulation can be looked at as a an "essential nutrient" required by the nervous system...pretty neat stuff. His motto is : Eat Well, Think Well, Move Well. The dude is smart and he is someone I would urge you to check out... one of his books or CDs. Especially, if you are interested in being truly holistic, wellness-oriented or are interested in extracting yourself from and/ or becoming less reliant on the ridiculous mess of insurance/managed/care etc. He has a website called: www.thewellnesspractice.com I plan to attend his 48 hour wellness-certification program in Seattle this spring and summer.

On the product side, it is amazing how much new technology there is vs 10 years ago. Especially, digital motion xray and staic digital xray machine prices starting to come down. The guy who supplied me with my website 7 years ago at the CAO convention has a totally-new template that is the best in the industry IMHO www.chiroplanet.com has a new upgraded template with fantastic newsletter and online store and elegantly-simple customization capability. He really is sharp as a whip and his product is great...I plunked down my credit card, upgraded and will be totally re-editing my site and updating all of our custom content with a new , more-sleek look...faster-loading etc.

Another former classmate Rene St. Cyr, DC who practices in Portland probably makes the best portable tables and most solid/functional/low-profile tables in the industry. He imports a products that is sort of like a portable roller table (check out his site at www.lifetimerint.com) I would rate this little device as every bit as effective and even more comfortable as the stationary "spinalator" (which I used to have in office) and/or the moving "anatomotor" (which I currently have and will be selling for cheap so keep your eyes open) for about 1/5th the price.........anyway, I bought two....this is a neat device that you could promote/sell to patients as well for 600 bucks or so...they WILL actually use it (unlike the massage tables that they bought at costco that sit is their spare bedrooms). Rene will be at CAO convention as well. Also, DeShaw was a vendor there promoting his book I think...he was always so mobbed at his booth, that I never got a chance to say hi.

At the end of the seminar, Maurice Pisciatano, DC (makes Prosoft and Pro Adjuster

www.proadjusterclinic.us ) laid a check for a million bucks on Fab Mancini for College...a nice ending to a nice seminar.

Finally, I urge you, once again, to become a registered with www.cspine.org there are a growing number of events on the calendar...eventually, we will have all Oregon events that I know of up there on the calendar it will be the definitive calendar for all chiro-related-events in Oregon (Ron, if you are reading this, make sure to post your activator event to the calendar).....right now there is a slight bug in the calendar and the dates are a little off on some events, but the content is accurate and it will be fixed in a day or two. There are dedicated forums for General Discussion, DCs-only, CAO-members-only, ODOC-members-only, CAs and Students. You can upload/download forms/brochures etc as well...it is a very capable community-building tool....a great compliment to this list-serv.

Cheers.
