I read somewhere that the problem with the casein and gluten is an inability

to properly metabolize it. It becomes more like an opiate than anything else

and the behaviors that result from this problem resemble a bad LSD trip. In

watching , it really makes sense.

Matt is on Naltrexone, an opiod antagonist, and it helps a lot. Maybe

this is where the extra opiods are coming from???

Us too! I can only hope and pray he doesn't have to go casein too.....at

least could still have dairy......jeeez, if we had to go without cheese,

milk, ice cream, I would definitely give up.

Well Essie is dairy free. We use soy milk, ice cream, and rice cheese. But

it is not quite the same but she is glad for what she can get.

HI ~~

How did you know she was allergic to casein? I've been giving Lacey rice

cheese, trying to get her off of dairy. However, I know that casein can be a

problem for those who are dairy-intolerant. She's had a bad rash on her face

for about the last month that I can't explain, which is why I decided to try

to get her off dairy. (She was eating a lot of cheese. She takes most

everything by Gtube, except that she loves cheese and takes that by mouth).

But the rash was actually there before I started the rice cheese, so I'm

doubting that it's the cause.....but it hasn't gotten better either!

Belinda:

Maybe the rash was from dairy, which if there is casein in the substitute

cheese, may still be causing her to react?

My girls' reactions are like this:

- severe abdominal pain and diarrhea with bleeding rash where stool

touches (cow's milk) and the lesser reaction is reflux (spitting up and

heartburn) from all other dairy, most pronounced with yogurt

Kate - frequent bright yellow, bile-looking diarrhea with mucus (sorry so

gross!), bleeding diaper rash, eczema intermittently in many places on the

body but also an especially bright rough rash on face near mouth (the facial

rash " breaks out " after being exposed to dairy), reflux with sleeping

difficulties and spitting up for hours and choking on it (since I eliminated

every dairy/dairy derivative molecule from my diet, she has NONE of this!!!

:) )

: Thanks for the reply. was RAST tested for many allergies

including milk and nothing showed up. She was almost three yrs old at the

time. But since we know she reacts to milk, we just limit it to our

discretion. Hard cheeses weren't bothering her for awhile, but seems like

she's a bit more sensitive lately. I'm banking on both of my girls outgrowing

this -- I've heard they usually do. It's really such a little thing for us

(you know, it's not like mine are anaphylactic or anything) and yet such a

pain...

(mom to Kate, born 9/19/02, dairy intolerant; and , age 4, dairy

intolerant -- currently has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had

transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs)

Hi,

I'm new .. but i was reading the digests and came across the question of why

we should keep kids at least casein free .. I believe it was Dr. Neubrander

who's work with MB12 injections calls for the child to be casein free due to

some interaction with certain pathways (I'm not so very technical) .

Something to do with the methionine (sp?) I was actually surprised to talk

to some mom's who were seeing a variety of DAN docs who are actually

recommending the HNI. (I just started these myself) On Dr. Neubrander's

website there are some videos and one (not sure which) he talks about the

MB12 and why no casein. (It was a very brief blurb .. that truly I did not

understand). I'm very new to this. Can use all the help I can get. I

still can't figure out how to figure out which supplement (or even

multivitamin) to give my kiddo .. what brand ... what dose. It's driving me

crazy to think of having to give something like SNT or Brainchid and then

having to look at those numbers and figure out how to supplement them with

MORE things to bring the levels to the right level. UGH.

Hi Sunny and Group, I was bouncing emails there for a bit and may have missed your response on this. Isn't the casein used in glues etc. an altered form of the dairy derivative?
