Guest guest
Here's the abstract that made the front page of Medpage today RE: Yoga, Chronic LBP, aerobic exercise and self-help booklets.... http://www.medpagetoday.com/PrimaryCare/BackPain/dh/2358 This abstract describes the yoga style studied as " viniyoga, " which reflects the earlier work of father/son teachers T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya. This study used closed-chain asanas, we can be pretty sure. The son, T.K.V. Desikacher has written a very good book on building a private practice specialized to individual needs. This book, " The Heart of Yoga, " also includes Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, with commentary on each aspect by Desikacher. The Sutras are the philosophical basis of yoga and address the mental aspects of yoga much more than the physical asanas. Regarding the asanas, or physical postures of yoga, only two requirements are necessary for a yoga pose: steadiness in posture and being at-ease in posture. Here's the table of contents from that book: Table of Contents Heart of Yoga Developing a Personal Practice A Blessing from Indra Devi Forword by Vanda Scaravelli Introduction by Mark Whitwell Part I The Practice of Yoga 1.
