Guest guest
.......Colleagues..... ......a good question raised here a while ago was something to the effect of 'why can't the Public walk into a chiropractor's office and know more or less what he's going to get?'..... .....couldn't we as well then expect every patient to be more or less what the last one was???? And if we are in fact making cookies or boxing up eggs, standardization is desireable.... which means we have to somehow make each individual pretty much the same as all the others....[just where is diversity now?] And the Council of Industrial Arts and HCFA Competency Review Panel certainly excels at that....reducing the field to the smallest common denominator.... I don't think that is the identity of the Art, Science and Philosophy of Chiropractic (or 'chiropractic-small-c' for Dr. Burke ;-) ), nor is it what any of us really strives to be....a reducer of Men to a common set of Approved Diagnostic Codes and a pre-ordained homily.... Are we on the verge of capitulating to those whose universe is comprised of fitting things into little boxes on an insurance form!!! When our patients are all the same, and our practitioners are all the same, and that multiphasic multispectral~ hued multiphonic holographic symphonic Gong sound from which we arise, is transformed into a flavorless pap of nonnutritional monotonal monochromatic monotenous metronomic complaint-response reflex arc- complete Box 21A predictable medications {see warning label for exclusions, warnings, side effects, contraindications and potential risks}.... we will become a truly limited ghost of that human interface between our patient and our expanding universe....and suffer the new drugs that kill the new bugs-temporarily-as the practitioner/technician down the street invokes his own theories derived from the Science god that changes its mind every decade....until he is sued out of existence. Chiropractors will neither be herded by nor seek loving embrace from bureaucratic functionaries whose notion of health is printed on the bandaid box. [Yet that is their job---thankfully not ours.....] That's what makes the DC down the street different....his personal atomic-bonding with a particular phase of the individual who embraces a particular vision of reality....and those patients who respond to a similar set of convictions will seek out services on their own level....given the opportunity.... [i heard the other day, that there are only 10 kinds of people in the world.... those who understand Binary code, and those that don't......] 'A hundred men marching across a bridge into a village, is a hundred men marching across a hundred bridges into a hundred villages..... is a man marching across a bridge into a village'....and in that village is a hundred men watching a hundred marching into a village with a hundred thoughts of each man about a village across a hundred bridges....and this is my village and my bridge...crossed by a man marching.... I forget the author of the first line.....but he certainly changed my ideas about MY village...marching as he was...with all his comrades...and they ALL are looking for the hundreds of chiropractic offices.......but there is just one....and Blue Cross does not pay....
