Guest guest
I do not understand this I don't either. Sometimes when I hear these stories instead of being encouraged I am discouraged because I think maybe I am doing something wrong. I will be thrilled if my son can read, write, do some math and get along in society. I am not saying we shouldn't reach for the stars but sometimes I feel like we are acting like mom's comparing first children. " Look, my kid can talk at 9 months old etc. " I am happy for the children with DS that can really achieve great things, at the same token there are some really educated people out there who have no common sense whatsoever in the world so I guess it is all relative. Great achievements are in the eye of the beholder. I know of a DS kid who when he prays reduces the congregation to tears. No he never went to college and probably would be considered moderately downs (whatever that means!!!) but this young man can pray eloquently and humbly and turn hearts to God, so who has mad the greater achievement?
